That looks f#cking amazing, without wanting to kiss your a#se I'm genuinely in awe of what you've done to create that car, hopefully you can get the last couple of electronic niggles sorted.

Very nice Chad, I reckon blacking out the rear badges as you mentioned earlier in the thread would top it mate
Craig takes great pics Chad...I am sorry I couldn't make it. Hope to see you at Saturday Night Live soon......
something like this would do the job. does look a little odd with the black background, my black holden badge is open.

I may get the carbon part of the badge painted yellow..... or each alternate square to make it look like Kevlar...
But a little chrome matches the tailpipes and the other tiny chrome bits on the car. like the passive entry buttons and possible the badges I'm going to put on the rear doors.
Seems we have created some buzz with this build on social media.... And brought the use of what it's called and the use of HSV / GTS Badges on cars like this to the front. It appears that no matter how well a car is built or how much of the donor car is used or how complete the project is there are some that feel it is not worthy to wear the precious HSV Badge.... Let alone the GTS badge. I would say that changing wheels and cam or upgrading a supercharger is by their logic a "Modifed" HSV is no longer a HSV's. I don't get the logic.
This car is not a mock up or body kit ca. It's a vehicle that allowed a broken GTS to be re-incarnated as an improved form of itself rather than be stripped, scrapped and spread all over. If it was a legit HSV body shell with cut in half and a wagon rear grafted onto it would be way less safe but would it still be a legit HSV? Ahh Grey area... It would be a POS but a legit HSV. At what point does a car change into something else than what it was born as. I have had the same axe for 40 years but it has a new head and two new handles.
If you copied/cloned an existing HSV and tried to pass it off as an original then there would be issues legally. No one here is under the illusion that this is genuine but to say I cant put badges on it because that somehow says its real because it has a badge.
Does this vehicle denigrate the HSV Brand. NO... It does show the lack of vision at HSV to not do this vehicle and how easy it would have been for them to do it properly. They have forever missed the boat unless this makes the re-evaluate and put out a last hurrah.
If HSV Built a GTS Tourer Wagon then it would be indistinguishable from this car. I would argue that when this occurs then it has earned the right to badges/name. Maybe the colour is a problem and If I painted a legit one would it then not be legit. I will make no apologies for putting GTS - HSV or any other badge on it I choose to and all the purists can sit and die a little inside when someone calls it a HSV GTS.....
I'll just enjoy having a one off HSV GTS Tourer to drive.... No one else can and you cant wipe that smile of my face with any number of posts on social media.
Vent Over.
Cheers
Cobalt
Pictures are popping up of this thing all over instagram. Dont worry about the haters, this is truly an epic car that anyone on here would die to have.
Credit to you for being so thorough and building such an amazing machine
I think... this is a super example of what Aussies do. If you can't get it do it yourself.
I actually asked HSV when GEN-F was released if they intended doing a GTS wagon ...aand asked again when the Maloo GTS came out.
Nup ... was the answer in both instances ( I bought the last manual R8 Tourer instead)
I would be happy too.... and in my opinion, you can stick the middle finger up to the haters out there
Yeah I know exactly what you are ranting about. The comment on Facebook was ridiculous. It's not a tarted up SV6 with a replica fibreglass front bar or something it's a full blown GTS everything conversion.
It's "Your" car, you can do what ever the hell you want with it, stuff everybody else...
If it puts a huge smile on your dial, every time you look at it or even think about, your've won...
The OEM chrome finish on the badges gives it Sophistication and Class IMO...
A little bit of OEM Chrome bling is always a good thing.
You've done a Stellar Job...
FFS there is not pleasing some people out there. This is an awesome project with more effort put in than anyone would know looking in from the outside. You resurected a HSV from the dead and gave it a bloody fantastic new body. I can understand your frustration with the haters and it would take the gloss off all you have done. They are probably want on and are spewing HSV will not do it and they arn't smart enough to figure out how to do it themselves.
Spot on mate, leave social media where it is :lol:Quote:
