Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
I have a 2012 1.4 turbo auto with 58000klms looks like the gear box is stuffed. When you put your foot down it just rev and moves slowly.
Gear changes have been rough for the last couple of weeks, was getting it checked out at the next service. But did not make it to the next service.
Will get a report tomorrow.
Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
Well I signed on the dotted line today, so now what? Can I track its progress through the factory using the order number? Od do i just have to sit & wait for 6 weeks? Or do I get updates?

This what happened to our Cruze auto (1.8 petrol 2009 South Korean build), our auto had metal particles in the fluid and Holden replaced the tranny at 75,000kms. I wonder if it is becoming a pattern that Cruzes have weak auto transmissions?

You won't get updates unless you ask for them; so do this. Get the order number from your dealer (should be a six letter code). Ring Holden Customer service, ask them for an update. They'll tell you the current status.
I did this yesterday arvo and they were happy to tell me that our Cruze has now been "passed for transportation", meaning presumably it is somewhere between the holding area at Elizabeth and here. (Last time I went to Wagga Wagga there was a big yard there with lots of new cars in it and trucks coming and going, which makes me think that it might be a changeover point for car carriers going between Adelaide and further up the east coast; maybe it's there. Who knows).
My wife is now getting quite excited about her Cruze being only days away. I don't think I've ever seen her get excited about anything car-related before...
Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
On the auto transmission - IIRC the MY14 cars have an updated/upgraded box? Perhaps this is an issue Holden is already painfully aware of...
Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
Thanks Marco, how long ago did you sign the dotted line? How long before you signed the dotted line to something actually happening to your car? Eg 2 weeks after you signed your car was put together at the factory? or does HCS not give you that information just that it is in the fatory being built and you dont know when it goes to paint shop and body shop?
I was told by the salesman that the updated cruze shared alot of stuff with the commodore and he said it had the same 6 speed auto as the commodore
Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
Are there any issues with the satnav, mylink or HVAC system in the SRi-V Cruze? Similar to the problems people are having in the new VF?

Ordered 30 July and built last Friday. The info isn't that detailed, I think all they can tell you is whether it is going to be built on a certain date, is currently in production, is in transport or is at the dealer.

Your salesman doesn't know what he's talking about. RWD and FWD transmissions are very different.
Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
gee mate that was a long time from placing order to actually building it. what was the EDD they gave you? I got Nov 15 as EDD, Maybe he was referring to that both the trans shared the same technology or something

I had one of the salesmen at Commonwealth Motors once tell me I was crazy to believe that my VY LS1 would be better suited to towing than a Toyota Avalon. I don't have a lot of time for those guys any more.
Where are you buying your new Cruze from?

Yeah, those guys...who I was very unhappy with after our VE SS experience but gave a second chance to this time (as last time it was just the attitude of one particular salesman regarding delivery dates - ie delivery when it suited him, not when it suited me). We got a young bloke this time, pretty new to selling cars but with good product knowledge and a helpful attitude.

All going according to plan, ours is scheduled to be built today - ours will be a Redhot manual SRi hatchback. Hoping therefore to take delivery in a week or two. I can't wait - in part because it means the money pit Vectra can't possibly cost me any more money, but also because it means that my wife will get the Cruze and I can have my SS back for my own daily use :)
How are you guys with Cruzes finding them? Any common issues to watch out for in the early days of ours?
Have had for our 2nd car a Cruze CDX 1.8 for a bit over 2 years. Apart from the lack of power in the non-turbo 1.8 we love it. It is a fantastic little car and is one of the few smaller cars that a big bloke can get reasonably comfortable in.
The 1.8 engine is ok for local running around and shopping etc but seriously lacks power on hills or when the car is loaded. However it is service the purpose it was bought for.
Unfortunately the 1.8 engine is the only one of the engines that can't be tuned using common tuning software used on commodores.
Regarding Cruze information, I have found a couple of Cruze specific forums good. One is out of the US called chevroletcruzeforum, and the other is local and is called cruzetalk.
Anyway, they are a great car and particularly in the latest guise with better engines.
Re: Cruze Owners' Discussion Thread
Thanks for all the info guys, I cant complain (yet) about the whole buying process from my dealer, he has bent over backwards and done anything and everything to sweeten the deal. Im buying from the dealer located in Port Adelaide as his is my local, my whole family and friends have bought all their Holdens from this dealer so it seemed like the right thing to do, to keep the tradition going.
The salesman that told me about the trans was actually from another dealer I went to and not the one I'm buying from, this one seemed to know what he was talking about.
They were also the best price out of the dealers I went to around Adelaide.
I did mention your EDD to him Marco and we have thought that the new VF coming online and the workers getting the sack at the factory might have contributed to your delay. He told me he will have a firm Delivery date in 2 weeks time for me, so we will see how spot on they are.
I will also check out some of those Cruze forums.
