Re: Rogue Dealer Cranbourne
I went into the Cranbourne dealership once to buy something for my ute, and the guy looked me up and down and asked if I REALLY owned a VZ SS ute. I'm 24, got long dreadlocks, and I'm a pretty solid guy, but I don't think that I look like a scumbag! Once I said to him that yes, I most certainly DO own one, his attitude towards me changed, when he noticed I had money to spend.

Well your not going to win a beauty contest!
On the Cranbourne Dealership, i have two friends who've had bad experiences there but i've dealt with them twice and found them to be okay, although their new car sales guys are W@#$ERS!
Re: Rogue Dealer Cranbourne
The reason why the couldnt take the roof rack of the van in the yard and fit it to the new van was because the roof rack was not originally designed to fit this vehicle. So some bozo drilled holes through the roof and mounted plates (Like a washer) on the inside so that the bolts would not rip through the roof. The salesperson said they can not fit it this way because it was not roadworthy. I then asked how he could be selling the van in the yard as it would also be not roadworty. AAAHHHHH DDDDOOOHHHH. I have pity on the poor person who buys this van with the roof rack fitted and i cannot understand how even after Holden know that it is not roadworthy. They still to this day have the Van for sale with the roof rack fitted.

Hi Gen3R8, I was hoping to get in contact with you relating to your bad experience with Cranbourne Holden several years ago. I am the Dealer Principal at Cranbourne Holden and I was hoping to discuss what happened to you and try and give some feedback to the sales team so we can try and stop it from happening to any customers in the future. I can be contacted at the dealership on 03 59954555. I realise it was a long time ago but never the less we would like to try and fix your experience.
Best Regards, Tom Davis Cranbourne Holden

Was supposed to pick the new van up today and when i asked whats happening with the roof rack. "He says we cannot take it off the van in the yard so if you want a roof rack you will have to pay for it". I told him that we had a deal. come to think of it when i asked him to write it in the contract he says "Dont worry about it mate well look after it"
I then told him what he could do with his van and told him i am not going ahead with the purchase.
He tells me you cannot back out of the deal because the car has been registered. I then decided to make a few calls and found out that even if the car has been registered you have 48hrs to cancel it without affecting it still being a new unregistered vehicle.
I asked for my deposit back of which they where very reluctant to give back until i made a scene in there showroom with potential customers present.
Then went to Berwick Holden and found the experience so much different. They have been very professional and after explaining to them what had occured previous they offered me a new roof rack at half price. Done deal.
I will never refer anyone or purchase any car from Cranbourne Holden.
CRANBOURNE HOLDEN - YOU JUST LOST ONE

Hey Tom, the guy has not logged onto the forum for just over 7 months so I have sent him a private message making him aware of new activity on this thread.
Can only hope he comes back & gets in touch with you.
Re: Bad Dealer Experience - Cranbourne
I would have thought any learnings for a sales team were pretty obvious from the information already given? If you do a deal to get a customer to sign a contract, then you have to follow through with it. Pretty simple really.
That said, if a business is only addressing concerns with the sales team 8yrs later, I'm afraid the horse has not only bolted, a whole team of horses have gone with it, died of old age and gone to the glue factory by now.
Re: Bad Dealer Experience - Cranbourne
Hi Tom,
I bought a my06 crewman from the cranbourne dealership (which was my second new car bought through that particular dealer) and while I cant fault the service I received with various warranty items during the manufacturers responsibility period I felt a little ripped off that the extended warranty I paid for was represented as an extension of the manufacturers warranty and similar in scope when it clearly was not.
I also wasn't terribly impressed with service paperwork showing wheel/tyre rotation being carried out during scheduled servicing when it was obvious that this did not happen (I marked the inside of each wheel with original location in an obscure way that would be apparent to me, there was no point complaining at the time since I regularly rotated tyres myself and I know a dealer has to justify exhorbitant service costs for an apprentice to change oil)
In summary, my experience with cranbourne holden was fine despite minor issues, I would probably buy from them again if I were in the new car market and I hope you can resolve your issue with the original poster.
Re: Bad Dealer Experience - Cranbourne
ACA would love to stitch up a big dealer, I wonder what repercussions from the public and Holden themselves would have to a story like paying for unnecessary or work not completed.
Re: Bad Dealer Experience - Cranbourne
I would happily pay a stealership to do vehicle repairs/maintenance if they stuck to the specified Job times/charges set down by GM!
Re: Bad Dealer Experience - Cranbourne
Don''t forget the oil charges. I got charged over $100.00 for the STD Holden Fuchs oil I could have paid $60 RRP over the parts counter(not that I have paid RRP for awhile).
Dealer took one look at the fact it was a Grange and went cha-ching.
Powertorque will be seeing the Grange next time.
