Had it fitted by the dealership prior to delivery.
I think they charged me about $1000 ?

Fair enough, that sounds reasonable. I'm considering getting it done in future, not the immediate future, but maybe within a year or so. Maybe. lol
Thanks buddy. :)
As some of you already know a baby cam has been hiding in my shed for the last 6 months!
During that time I have patiently collected all of the other parts necessary for the install.
This week the install happened!
With some help from my local pitcrew (LS1VT209, Kozza, Muzzar809, RUN41T & Brendo) we disassembled the BBQ Berlina powerplant and installed the new bits in less than a day! And just for fun the team also did Nigels LS1 VT ... sameday! It was an epic display of tool skills!
The specs on the new parts

Because of the different spring seats it was also necessary to change valve stem seals, I used a set of locally sourced LS1 valve stem seals.

The silly grin hasnt disappeared from my face.
We still have a bit to do in regards to getting the tune perfect ...
BUT
So far my first impressions are...
1. Why didnt Holden put one of these in at the Factory?
2. Why does my car want to break tractionin gears 1, 2 & 3 ??
3. Why do my instant fuel stats indicate that I am using considerably less fuel???
This is not the cam for anyone who wants to be a DYNO queen or WSID weapon!
This is the cam for anyone who wants to enjoy their daily drive, doesn't require the "look at me" spec LUMP and wants to retain a wife approval factor.
I am stoked.... The cam is exactly what I WANTED!
&& is suitable for forced induction applications ;)
Thanks again to the dudes who picked up tools to assist with a good cause!
Cant wait for my next trip to WSID :D
Regards
Chris
Glad youre happy Chriso, that hunting at idle can be tuned out mate, mine did the same, sounds like she may be a bit lean too, have you got a wideband installed?
Hi Boyley!
Wideband? Yes we have been using the Tech Edge 2J1.
The AFRs are pretty good everywhere but were initially way RICH (about 20%) at idle. The AFR at idle has come in nicely now but the spark is still a bit erratic... but we're getting there! I really need to take it for a long drive so that we can collect some decent data.
When I said that my instant fuel stats say I am using heaps less fuel, my AFR's are still close to stoich, so the cam has greatly improved efficiency in the cruise zones! Probably due to the big lift in torque I require considerably less throttle% ... therefore better economy? :D
This cam should compliment the LiLPG nicely!
Regards
Chris
Interesting that you chose such a small cam? and why not 7.425" rods? It'll be interesting to see how much power this car makes with a before and after dyno run...if you're planning on it.
Nice looking berlina There !
I also like the audio install !
Just hope you can break the 280rwkw barrier. Don't want to see Piffs humble bolt on beat two cammed cars :p
This thread is long overdue for updates. :1peek:
So I'll just start by posting pictures of my new Pentagon rims which got fitted up yesterday.
The rim/ tyre combo is as follows:
20x8s fronts & 20x9.5 rears fitted with KUHMO ECCSTA 245 30R20 & 275 30R20.
Shadow chrome machined face.
The rims are obviously copies but I am very happy with the quality and how the compliment the car.

Gotta love the pentagon's! They look so good on ve's.
Wow that looks really sweet, nice to see a hot ve that's not red or black! Wheels look awesome too, set it off nicely.
they set the colour off very well. good job. :goodjob: Hmmm wonder how they'll look on a black ssv wagon?:eyes:
One reason why I think this is a good thing is that the colour is fairly rare on VE's as it was discontinued in early 07 I think.
I know that at least I dont have a heap of clones out there :D
Cheers for the compliments guys! I get that reflex grin everytime I walk up to my own car - that's a good thing! Very happy with the choice of wheel.
Time to break out the Photoshop Nick! ;)
I still have to photoshop my rims onto my mates red SS-V for him... pretty sure he'll be sporting a set this weekend :D
Regards
Chris
Great choice of rim Chris. i've got the Shadow pentagons on my Senator & the silver Pentagons on the tourer love them :goodjob:
mate that looks so awesome!! love the colour and the rims, go well together...The only thing that I was wondering is those weird mufflers on the back, they dont complement the car very well, set of stainless mufflers would give it a much cleaner look...awesome ride though!

sounds like a plan chris. i'll get some photos up after we pick it up on friday and get back from sydney.
cheers.
Quick update.
A trip to the 1/4 mile recently resulted in a 12.7 @ 113.2 MPH
That was running on some shagged Turanza 225 rubber & on LPG.
Will now try and get the supercharger on before the next run.
Almost a year since I've updated this thread
Busy doing the mods instead of talking about them I guess :p
I finally finished the installation of the supercharger.
Back shed engineering and some great mates has given me what I believe could be the only Rotrex supercharged V8 Commodore?
Goes well and is very stealth (no rumbling or whining) until about 2500rpm when the chargers induction roar starts to sound like a jet engine. :)
Power is still pretty much untested and there is still a little left to be done with the tune.
Since last I updated this thread I have also installed a set of Yella Terra Roller Rockers (I had issues with the stock rockers fouling on a couple of the springs)
So to prevent a repeat of this:

I did this:

Due to all the mods I needed to keep an eye on Air Fuel Ratios...
So I installed an AEM analog AFR gauge:

looks and sounds even better in person:goodjob:
Cheers Guys!
Yeah noise is definitely good :D & so is the GO!
& MDF brackets... made a couple before I had one I was happy with.
Should have just wrapped in carbon fibre and torqued it up eh :))
gunna have to come for a run in it chris.
havent been it since you first put he LILPG on it.
No problemo... it is probably well enough sorted to throw down the 1/4 mile now. So when I have a weekend free & there is an open spot on a private day at WSID i'm there. Happy to take support vehicles & pit crew with me ......... or competitors ;)
found a couple more pics of the new front intrusion bar and intercooler setup that we fabbed up. Heavy duty & Built to last... nice powder coat finished it off.

Thanks Weed. :)
Cheers kilrvk - look forward to reading about yours soon.
did you have problems with the heater hoses leaking?is that why you relocated them, did you use the factory hoses or just bought sum straight hose ?cheers
What a nugget :p
Ah, I remember seeing this way before you got LPG or the Supercharger.
Like what you doing with it, especially the backyardian charger install:goodjob:
Cheers Darryl.
Sorry for the late reply - I had abit of a Hiatus from LS1 forum whilst I got a few other "projects" under control.
Issues?
Nothing major.
The LiLPG setup required a little tweaking of the vacuum regulator so that there was sufficient fuel flow when being pushed.
But the LPG loves the extra air that the Charger provides - runs great!
Very happy with the setup powerful, economical & reliable :)
Tuning was all DIY.
I've made a few more tweaks to the car recently so I probably need to post another update.
Cheers, Chris
yeah, your setup looks awesome.
The adventra I'm trying to buy has an impco system on it, so heaps differnt to yours :-(
Still I am sure there are others who have pd blown an impco LS1 before ?
Right ?
Anyone ?
Cheers
Darryl
Hey Darryl
Impco have made good quality LPG conversions for a few decades now.
Not sure what the limits of their fuel delivery is though.
I'm assuming it is an SVI setup?
Do you know how the LPG fuelling is managed? Does it have a piggy-back computer or does it rely on the factory PCM?
Can the flow of the injectors be increased by changing calibrators or injectors?
If you can get a little more flow out the IMPCO system then the car will perform very nicely.
Forced induction is generally safer on LPG due to the fuel being more knock resistant.
LPG loves forced induction as it needs lots of O2.
I look forward to hearing about your new Adventra... I have always been a fan :)
