2010 GXP Maloo.
Stock untouched 1800km
Weight savings: Its a GXP so doesnt come with a spare and was using std VE SS rims at the back with factory Potenza saving approx 8kg. At least 10kg of other work gear behind seat.
ET 13.177
60' 2.145 (grannied off the line to avoid wheel spin)
MPH 107.27
temp 22.3
density altitude 297m
humidity 56%
later in the night it ran 108.3mph with the air filter out, but wheel spin caused higher ET.

Impressive rwkw numbers there....but the MPH is pretty low. Any particular reason for that?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Bald 20" tyres & factory clutch which might be slipping ?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Ahh...well that might do it I guess...
What times/MPH are u hoping for?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
At a guess and considering the car was in 100% street trim at a weight of 2010kgs on the scales, I the think up around the 125 - 130mph mark should be achievable.
What do you guys think?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
With 490rwkw you should be trapping 130+ easy
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
666HP at the tyres, hhmmmm and 121mph, something not right.
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Put some sticky tyres on and if you cant run a mid 10 with that kind of power
with that weight ! Somethings wrong.

490rwkw! That is awesome for the mods! I think I would be lucky to put down 350rwkw with a HTV2300 albeit Ls2 with stock exhaust.
I have seen faster and quicker with 360rwkw on stock tyres but an auto ...

Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Remember guys, this 490rwkw would have been measured on the Tunehouse hub dyno - so no rear tyres are brought into the equation - hard to compare to other "rolling road" chassis dyno's
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
I hear what you guys are saying... The mph is low but don't forget this is in 100% street trim. Comparing this to the Walkinshaw cars at this years Motor Hot Tuner, the car has done well...
The car will go out with semi-slicks which should be interesting.
How many manual 2 tonne VEs have run in the 11s on 20" rubber?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Doesnt really matter, the MPH tells the story.
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
I had a look into some of the online Horsepower calculators and here are the results ...
Using:
2010 kg = 4431 pounds
121 MPH Trap speed
The calculators come up with a figure of 612hp to the wheels = 457 rwkw !!
The dyno measured 490 rwkw peak ... that is about a 7% difference, a loss of 33 rwkw.
When you enter 490 rwkw (656rwhp) you get a calculated MPH of 123.5 mph.
That's only 2.5 mph off what was recorded over the quarter.
Maybe stickier tyres might help?
Can someone with some drag racing experience check the above numbers?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
HEKYEH is running 118mph with 278rwkw and i can tell you now he is on 20's with a MASSIVE amount of stereo gear in the back of that thing. You've have alot of guys post in this thread with drag racing experience.

+1 I was running 130 + with less rwkw in a manual with 20 's on the rear , full street trim.
It was only getting traction in the second half of the track, if you have the hp it will do the mph.

I'm not sure what I'm doing...I don't think I'm the world's greatest driver. It's an auto - I just put my foot on the break, stall it up a little bit, lights go green and slam the go fast pedal...It's not that hard!
But for a car that only has 278rwkw and 100kg+ of stereo with 20" street tyres....I must be doing something right. Or the car is making power in the right areas...Or there are some seriously whacked dynos out there...
MPH, not rwkw, is where it's at.

The figures look about right.
Don't forget that the horsepower is flywheel, not at wheel.

Sounds like a very strong car!!
Do you know what the car and driver weighed when you done this MPH??
How much power have you got to the wheels?

Thanks... I'm confused with the HP calculators as some say rear wheel HP others do not mention at the wheels or flywheel.

Yeah. the left. As if the right. lol

Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Nice run ... what did the car weigh?
The Tunehouse car has a lot more in it. If you see the Youtube vid (on the Tunehouse Project car thread) it done it easy. The car is going to go out again soon.
As far as the power goes, I might try and borrow it (ha!) and take it to a dyno day with a roller dyno. Any coming up?
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
i'll have to check it on the weighbridge at work but i guess with me in it around the 2050~2150 range.

With this amount of power on a chassis dyno, IMO would be WELL under the HUB dyno's numbers you're getting.
You're not having BAD traction issues, as 1.8 60ft times are pretty good. MPH never lies, simple as that. No disrespect intended, its a sweet car.
As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.
I think with this mph, your best times would be mid 11's...nothing to sneeze at.
-
Re: VE 1/4 mile times only data base. - Part 1
Thanks for the feedback ... we will get the car on a rolling rod dyno and see the difference. We might take it to Powercruise and run it on the dyno there.
I agree with your estimate of mid 11s. Perhaps on some stickier tyres with a good solid launch it should run in the mid 11s.
