............my eye twitches
Good outcome really. Getting money for tune refunded. Car runs fine at the moment. Either stick with it as is or use your tune money to go to a different tuner. Win:win
Yep a great outcome... has been about 2 weeks now and car is running perfect.
Pretty happy..... except I am really missing that 30 or so extra Kw!!
Been about a month now and all is good to report.
Except I miss the power!
So anyway... looks like it's time to get a tune again and a new OTR, now that I know nothing is wrong with my vehicle. I suppose it looks like I will be getting the tune elsewhere....
I think this time I will go the more "discreet" route and just go a MAF tune with a VCM OTR.
Well I gave the ol' faithful a Valentin'e gift yesterday…
My VE wagon has just ticked over 50,000km and with the drama of my old Mafless tune behind me I decided it was time to "liven" it up again, as there seemed to be no underlying problems with the vehicle.
In it went to HiTorque for a MAF tune with a VCM OTR.
WOW is all I can say upon the drive home last night…. so nice to drive.
Heaps more power and torque and you can feel it everywhere, but at the same time has kept its everyday driveability manners.
Well done guys at HiTorque… I luv it again.
The only bad thing I did after the tune was put new tyres on… I should have waited another week!! (but couldnt as I am taking family on a road trip this weekend and rain is forecast)
Now the figures you ask:
PRE TUNE: 213.9rwkw to 240.0rwkw after
PRE TUNE: approx 495Nm at 150klm/hr to 545Nm (I am being approx here as there was no reading on chart - just going by the graph)
Couldn't be happier… Im going for another drive now :)
Dyno sheet below.
Old Mafless tune at top to compare....
Anyone with more clues than me about what this really means feel free to comment.

In the old days you used to get a response (whether positive or negative - it was still a response) on this site to a tune or a modification… one thumbs up hardly makes worth all the two fingered typing
Sheesh - will keep to myself in the future!
Sadly seems the way these days. Even a tune/headers/dual 3" barely gets a comment. I suppose it is because they are just so common.
But for the sake of friendliness, and because you are a fellow Wagon owner, well done. We got 288rwkw out of the 6.2 with MAF/dual3" and headers so 240 seems pretty reasonable (and a hell of lot more fun to drive :) )
cheers illucid.... you cheered me up :)
Well..... I would have thought 240 was a tad low, but of course it all depends on the exact combo and the dyno in question.
What is good is the MAF tune has a flatter power curve, meaning you hold that power for a little longer. While the position of the power curve can change from day to day / dyno to dyno, the shape of the curve should stay fairly consistent. So a flatter peak in the curve is a good thing.
As always, if it makes you happy, it's a good result.

hmmm - tad low? Fair comment - I maybe thought I would have gained more also... but it got 240rwkw with the mafless tune so I thought this was OK?
Mods now are:
HSV headers and CATS
X-Force Catback
VCM OTR
and MAF tune
with MAFless tune it was:
HSV headers/CATS and resonators (stock catback)
SS Induction OTR
whats a more reasonable figure you think? (or that others are gaining with similar mods)?
thanks for comments.
PS: just also glad to find that the initial problem (OP) is gone... maybe it didnt like running without the MAF?
Thanks for updating. I have very similar mods except different cat back and am yet to do the tune. Your post gives me a pretty good indication of what I should expect, so THANKS :)
OK, it's probably just the sock HSV headers holding you back a bit. In the end though, you went from 214 to 240, a gain of 26KW. For comparison, mine with 4>1 longs went from 225 to 260, but it's a manual.
Try getting some 0-100 times and see how it goes (don't try this in your local school pick up zone...) if you com in under 5.5 seconds, you're going OK, under 5.3 and you're doing well.
Simon
Yer and the CATS also I would say... but its a family wagon hauling two kids under 4, so pretty happy I suppose.
BTW - Im manual also.
Looks like your old Mafless tune produced more torque down low. Can you feel a difference ?
I suspect like me many others didn't comment for the same reason as me - I thought you were asking for comments on interpreting your dyno charts and I certainly don't feel qualified to comment on them.
FWIW my A6 SSV ute went from stock 201rwkw to 260rwkw with DUS OTR, mafless tune and full 3" KPM (1 7/8" Pacies + 100cpsi cats). My previous SSV sedan we never got a base run with (sponsor I used to use before Chev didn't do one ) but when I went to Chev's and had basically the same mods done it also finished up with 260rwkw.
On the sedan when we went from HSV headers and cats to 1 3/4" Pacies and high flow cats (150cpsi I was told) we gained about 15rwkw and I know of others eg Mustanger with his then GTS, who found similar.
Probably gunna be flamed here! But don't get too hung up on pipes as I have an old L76 here with a baby cam making excellent numbers on cast iron exh manifolds & cat back that's all!
Reckon it all has to do with your tuner & there xp with these engines!!
