Cool, great value for anyone in a position to buy at that time, if they discount to clear stock, it seems no different to me than with the GFC in late 2008 when Holden discounted to clear stock. No big deal, if it's ongoing, HSV will make a business decision as to how many they produce and what stock they carry, and where they need to be price wise. It didn't do Holden owners any harm (except maybe short term), and once the discounting ended those who bought discounted cars seemed to do pretty well resale wise.

Here's a few of my "thoughts", & they are only "thoughts", because I have no inside info whatsoever.
2009 was an "OK' year for HSV, 2010 was a screamer, 2011 was "in line" with 2009, which sales HSV are "generally"(taking the economy/car sales into account), happy with.
I have put the question directly to Phil Harding as to whether we'll see an LSA engine in an HSV this year, to which of course he gives the "stock" answer.."We don't discuss future models" etc etc. I've also asked another relatively senior HSV manager, who gave me virtually the same answer.....I've got no problem with that....it's what I would expect....I mean, why would they tell me anything....doesn't stop me from asking though!
A prior poster has said that HSV are about to "sign off" on the "S/C' car.....Like I said I have no such info, but I believe that there is a good chance that is correct....HSV have to offer "something" this year......they've got access to virtually all the powertrain info they need via GM USA.....so why wouldn't they do it?......well, like I said, I know NOTHING.....but I do hope it's a goer.
So, if this car's a goer, to make any real impact on sales, for it to be a reasonable seller, it can't be priced in W427 territory, but it's gonna have to be dearer than GTS/Senator etc,
but if they wanna sell a few, then where's it gonna be priced....$100/110K?
And of course, are there any predictions as to when we might see this car?

This time around its a little different . . . Holden are not in the shit with cars on grass . . . but HSV are worse off than late 2008.
There have been all sorts of reasons and excuses in this thread from "Resident Experts" on here about Building Holiday Stock and all sorts of stuff . . . but this current issue has been looming for 6 months and HSV have had the data to predict it . . . but they ARROGANTLY chose to keep the Max Volume strategy in place and let the Market (Dealers & Punters) make it go way . . . and regardless of what you think of my posts . . . this is just damn poor business practice long term . . . and makes me question their abilities as Vehicle marketers AT THIS TIME!!!
The SC Anniverary car is at this point in time a Limited Edition due to be released on 17 or 18 October 2012 (Sydney Motor Show) as a 25th Anniversay Special . . . BUT . . . as HSV are not realy into milestone dates (ie 25th Anniv) . . . it may come sooner . . . and the latest "Intellegence" we have suggests this is the case . . . as HSV Management hastely try to "Make something happen" to boost the Brands image sooner than later,
In some ways it may be look at as - Crisis Management!!!

I think GM Aus found out last time they performed the experiment there isnt a large queue forming for a $150K+ Holden Commodore. There are so many better cars out there for the money. $45K for a Clubby, now thats the go and ripping value :bow:

Keep your dreams in check Martin . . . yes there will be $50k Clubbies around but they will be thin on the ground and MY 2011 Spec . . . most that will be sold cheap will come with options like 20's , Leather, Bi Modal, etc and cop another $5k. . . but still great value . . . the $49,995 shitters will have fabric seats, the shitty BA FPV Look 19's . . . and sadly the market will remember the $49995 shitter as the yardstick as resale is taken into consideration going forward
The other big question is what will HSV do about re - igniting things with the SC Car. . . . back in Crennans day it would be top secret. . . . but I am thinking that a decision is pending in the next few weeks to take the SC INFO to the Market aka . . . just like GM has done with the ZL 1 Camaro and build some real excitement and anticipation!!!
Of course, the challenge would be to find someone positive enough at HSV to create such a campaign!!!! . . .

There are new wheels, new front bar, new bonnet, new rear wing in the package. . . . .and a lot of other stuff that are variarions on the current GTS package aka differend trim materials and colours of stitching etc . . . . . apart from that all the other stuff we know is just hearsay so we will await further confirmation.
I would luv to see the wheels in a size like the ZL 1 (10's on the front and 11's on the rear) . . . but dont hold your breath - but they are using a better Brigestone on it!
It will be the best thing to ever come out of Clayton!!

Exactly . . . all you need is a $52k A6 Clubby - 6 hours for Zorst, OTR, Cam, 3.7's Tune and for $59k . . . . you have 11sec daily
But then you need Trans, P/S, Diff coolers . . . Tyres . . . and water cooled brakes with good pads . . . and you get the thing around a track for more than 10 minutes without it turning to Shit!!!!

I would've thought that HSV would use the supercharged LSA engine in any supercharged vehicle.....400+KW depending upon tune, would be plenty, I reckon.
Whilst I'm sure they could bring in "crate" LSAs, maybe they could even bring in "crate" engines AND G.B. as a unit, & simply drop 'em in....yeah, I know it's a bit more involved than that?
Anyway, that is my "tip". the even more powerful LS9 would be too powerful, too "over the top" for a mainstream HSV...and also too expensive....IMHO of course.
Would this supercharged HSV be available with an auto, & what auto would that be?
I do know that LSAs have been around Lang Lang for a considerable time.

As long as its GM Tech not aftermarket tech. Judging by W427 it will be the good factory stuff
Strange that when the W427 was being developed Adelaide tyre dealers had good stock of the Bridgestone RE070 DSST run-flat 20 inch GTR tyre in stock.....and we had the only one in the state at the time. Points to something going on with Holden/HSV and wheel tyre sizing :)

The tip is the new RE001 . . . or they will stay with the current production tyre - which would be a dissapointment
The tyres off the Datto would be good . . and the taller profile would add to the "presense" of any Special HSV . . . so lets hope you are right Martin and the will use the 070's
