It was an example. While a stock l98 or ls3 is obviously better down low they aren't exactly remarkable. Tuned, they are better. The ford supercharged engine makes all the lsx's look silly in low end torque as they have good torque everywhere thanks to the blower. Take away the restrictions from both via tuning and that gap opens up considerably.Quote:

probably why the GT has been engineered with such a broad rev range where the torue really works. As nick said there is no need to nescessarilly lift the power level...but the efficiency at which these engines provide power is where advancements are made. If youve driven one of these GT s... let alone the rspec then you would appreciate the superior power delivery over any aussie engine weve seen. If straightline speed isnt your thing..then try an overtake or an uphill in gear acceleration test past a truck. Try it to a truck or a HSV if you want...same result...left for dead.
Thats why the next HSV dont need badgepower...they need engine power efficiency.All the top carmakers are going smaller,FI with of course a better power ban.Thats where its at. Otherwise we would have stopped at the LS1

Compared to a twin turbo 3.8 GTR engine they are both fairly average in torque.

It's a modifiers dream this engine, I went in the Autotech test mule GT up in Sydney and it had about 450rwkw and just shredded 275 semi slicks off the line but was so smooth to still putt around
