Re: Iphone or Samsung Galaxy 2
There are ways to sync iTunes with the GS2, although I've never tried them. I think the horrendous "official" software that is Samsung Kies offers it. Might be worth a look.

I'm then going onto Red Bull mobile for 365 days.
Suits my needs for the moment. I've got a metric ****load of money locked up in itunes, but will keep that sitting there for use by my ipad, or iphone 5 if it ever comes out.
if you have a GS2, get isyncr and the wifi add on and it will transfer your itunes playlists into the gs2.
if you have .m4p protected content it will not read that because it is locked by itunes, but because they are not allowed to do that anymore there are programs out there that will convert all .m4p to m4a or mp3 and you can they reload itunes. they all still work in there and will also work on ANY mp3 player.
The converter i got was from Audial tunebite 8 i think it was $26 or somthing like that but there are others in the range. this one was simple to use and transfered all the meta data too.
there is a new version "9" out now at http://audials.com/en/start/.
good luck.

For me, my phone's greatest priority/function is to act as an emergency contact device.
If I'm broken down, I want to be able to call for help.
Currently I'm using a 5 year old not "smart phone" (though it can browse the Internet). Even with its original 5 year old battery, I can still get a solid 3 days of usage without fear. If I got a new battery, I'm sure it would be back close to a week like it used to.
If I was going camping, and leaving Friday night, to come back Sunday night, I could rely on the phone to be on, fully functioning, and able to act as an emergency device. I could trust it.
Would you trust your phone ... And by trust, I mean with your life? I know that is over dramatizing it, but would you feel safe with your 2 days of use? Or is it two days so long as there is a charger nearby
I used to get two days out of my android phone too ... However I wouldnt "trust" it as an emergency. Some times it was sketchy, sometimes I would get one day. It was inconsistent.
I have an original US model iPhone here that I still use as well. It easily gets 5 days standby. However it is 2G only, which saves battery by an amazing amount.
I'm with vulture. Increase the size by 2mm .... Heck, even 3mm ... And get another days use. Though it's hard to win the war based on pissing

Oh well ... I guess there's a bit of egg on my face.
I've charged the phone once since i've had it. Still got over 10% battery left. Have used the phone as I would normally/need to.
Have it syncing with my work exchange mailbox.
Always left on at night etc
Not bad.

it aint the phone
you mentioned THAT word...they aint known as Vodafail for nothing!
Re: Iphone or Samsung Galaxy 2
Being Vodaphone, i'd definately put it down to that. Don't seem to hear of too many issues with the GS2's
But i've got 2 Galaxy Nexus' with Telstra (one was a grey import, the other supplied by Telstra) and both have gone back for not being able to hold a signal. New "reception modules" are being put in both. Maybe I just got unlucky twice?
Re: Iphone or Samsung Galaxy 2
LOL it's Vodafail. A mate loses reception in his house and he lives in a central suburb. Another mate with a (branded) Telstra Galaxy Nexus hasn't mentioned any issues and he lives in an outer suburb of Perth.
Re: Iphone or Samsung Galaxy 2
Just went on holidays in Thaiand for two weeks.
I am with Telstra but i will admit over there 100% singnal all the time, and i know the gs2's main power usage it the screen.
As i was not playing with it all the time and it was left in my pocket where possable it was only using about 2% a day, i was very impressed.
away for two week and didnt need to charge it at all.
Most days it only gets down to 30%-40% by the end of the day, so i play games or read a book on it to try and get it to 10% so i can charge it fully overnight.

My Galaxy S2 works great all round the world, great reception on Globe in Philippines, Digicel in PNG - yet I struggle to get 1 or 2 bars in my house in Melbourne on Vodapoop - have a USB dongle that struggles as well.
Not sure if their 850MHz network will fix the problems.
But who to switch too?

I recently switched from Vodafail to Telstra. Now have both phone and 3G reception pretty much everywhere.

What version of OS are you running, when i firs got mine it would not last a day?
then i upgraded to the code below,
i run 2.3.3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XZKF3-CL276555 root@dell101 #2
build GINGERBREAD.XWKF3
I upgraded around oct 2011 so i am sure there are newer versions but i have no issues so i will stay put for the moment.
