Have you driven one ??????
Sorry I'm not allowed to mention the "W" car by name - as it upset too many people last time.. I haven't driven it no. I haven't driven a Lexus LFA either, but I also share the opinion that it is also over priced.

The W427 was always going to be a 100 Car Model according to us . . . similar to other low volume HSV's inc VS GTSR, 10th Anniv Senator, VT2 GTS just to name a few . . . and yes again HSV didnt read the market properly when they suggested (foolishly) that they would do 427 of them.. . . we actually thought that announcement was damn right stupid at the time and we were right!!
We thought production might get to 150 at a pinch and in the end it made 130's . . . the interesting thing is what they will be worth in the end . . . and non of us know the answer to that!! . . . but if history is any guide . . the Red VL HDT Group A was also deemed a dud at the release in 1986 - inderpowered, over priced at 33500 on road with Air and Plus Pack . . . and look what a prestine one of them things make these days . . . that if you can actually get a prestine one!!!!
I guess we are lucky that we are positive as we have a prestine Group A VL in the garage with 11000k's on it . . and parked right next to it is a prestine W427 in Red . . . not for sale . . . what would those two be worth in another 20 years when young tockley is 56 and looking back at the history of performance Holdens . . . at these 2 "White Elephants" . . .
I'm not sure what this thread is actually about Nailit? On one hand, you question HSV and point out all sorts of stupid mistakes that they continue to make, and on the other hand you continue to collect their cars and boast that they will be somehow worth a fortune in 20 years. If I had the money your old man has, then I'd be collecting cars with proper pedigree behind them. Many people have lost good money trying to turn Aussie cars into big investments. I think ANYONE is dreaming if they think that a HSV (or FPV for that matter) is anything more than a family sedan with a V8 and slightly harder suspension. Makes me laugh when people mention track and HSV in the same sentence..

That is so cool......Bev was big into the racing thing
Nailit, get yourself one of these new-gen Polarizers (you have the contacts) and I will cut that sucker in half (I have the bandsaw) and see if it has the same 'magical stuff' in it as the original unit

Couldn't agree more. Actually wrote up something similar to post then deleted it.
Sounds like Nailits trying to boost up the value of his dads depreciating hsv's.

For current HDT Special Vehicle owner, Peter Champion, fitment of the Polarizers, built by Bev Brock,is all about authenticity.
Owners must buy a donor SS from Holden, which will then incorporate a 350kW/610Nm 6.0-litre.Bilstein sus, bodykit, retro interior,20'' MOMO-style wheels,a respray in Permanent Red,retro badging and the destinctive Peter Brock signature.Oh,and the Polarizer, limited to 250 vehicles, with build plate on every vihicle.
So is it restricted to a new SS from Holden? Seeing as they are replacing nearly everything, a 2007 VESS for $20K would make a cheap Brock special.

Yes a new SS,priced at $43,000,
But your idea is a much better way of going about it.

I think it would be more fun . . . . and less disapointing to shred 5 x $100 bills . . . .
Re: Does HSV understand its Market?
Another point - the latest HSVs (including Grange FFS!) have a track setting for the suspension and I think a launch setting. To me that is tantamount to stating that they are suited to the track, and yet, should anything fail under track condtions they would be the first to say that track damage is not covered...
But - why on earth would you fit these gimmicks to a Grange??? What a total wank

If you knew what he currently had on order it would curl your hair ladies!!!

Only on the GTS does the MRC mention "track", on the Senator and, presumably, Grange, the settings are luxury and performance.

Can't wait to see him in Feb to see what's arriving ;)
Re: Does HSV understand its Market?
I am surprised this thread is still alive. In an attempt to summarise:
- HSV DOES understand it's market.
- It builds "performance" Holdens for proud, cashed up individuals who want an Australian built car, that stands out in the crowd
- HSV does not build "race" cars
- HSV underatands the cache of the brand and brand loyalty. HSV used to list repeat owners on their website once upon a time....and there were a lot of repeat owners.
- Car manufacturers aren't in the business of determining vehicle depreciation....the market determines that
- HSV is a mainstream business that builds, market and sells cars. Niche players get swallowed up. HSV isn't going to let that happen. Volume + margin = survival
- HSV will never be to Holden what AMG is to Mercedes. The Australian market is too small for that
- HSV understands that there is an effective aftermarket that will make their cars what owners want.
- HSV understands the strength and weakness of the core vehicle
- HSV understands that threads like this demonstrate the passion of the brand, why else would this thread still be kicking after some three weeks?
OK so back over to the rest of you to continue
