I had SSL in a previous VE and there was occasional noise. No massive clunks etc. I found it fine to live with.
No idea on part number - I am leaving it up to WA Suspension to sort but it is only a 30mm drop from std so probably only a SL spec.
Funny thing is my last ride was an '04 VY SS Ute that was dumped close to the weeds but didnt have any strange clunks or noises at all!
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
Had the 3k inspection service but no resolution on the sunroof rattle as then could not reproduce the noise. During the 15k service, I will take the tech on a drive on the road near my workplace... guaranteed to rattle then :)
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
So it appears that turning the forward collision alert off doesn't actually turn it off. The issues I mentioned previously with it going off as I leave the steeply sloped car park (but not when i wanted it to work while trying to park nose in to a fence) at work annoyed me to the point that I turned it off. However it continues to make the annoying when I go out the driveway or as soon as I started the car if it's close to another object.
Has anyone managed to turn the bloody thing off completely?
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
So, I took my GEN-F GTS in for the 3000km inspection yesterday (Friday 13th). Asked them to change oil and filter. But that's just me.
Reported HVAC - for me 23 is sometimes freezing, and 24 is sometimes boiling. Also o/s temp is erratic, so possibly related. They have no firmware fix, also the service rep. did say his Malibu has a sticking air-flap (he can hear it vibrating) seems to have similar symptoms.
When I left, the radio sound kept going off (unable to change station from what was displayed) – went back and was told this is a known problem, also with no fix yet available. Friday the 13th gremlins I say.
Let's hope they get a fix one day soon. - I've offered to record my temps. etc. and they will update (or start?) a PIR. Great.
Holden, she's a pretty good car, mate.
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
Hi
Gen-F GTS - I have had mainly small but annoying issues with the EDI / MyLink / GPS systems:
1) When plugging in the iPhone - instantly switches to that so you have to cycle back to the radio - no way of turning this off
2) When you plugin an iPhone or iPod - it starts to play the last tune. If you're playing from an album it will only play that one tune in repeat mode - and not the album. This also occurs if you turn the car off for any reason. To fix you have to go back, scroll down to the album you were listening too and select the tune and it will play all. This happens EVERY time i turn the car off and with 64 albums it's really really annoying. Can be distracting if you have set off and/or plugged in the iPhone / iPod - see more below...
3) The Gracenote system wants to index ALL the tunes every single time you turn the car off / on and will not let you select any tunes until it has finished. With 64 albums this indexing process takes up to 5 minutes every single time the engine is turned off/on. In conjunction with it only playing one tune out of the album this is really starting to grate.
I basically turn the car off, get back in, it starts indexing, so i turn the radio on - wait 5 mins for the indexing to stop (grrr). Go back to the iPod setting, try and find the album/tune I was playing, play it. Then need to pull over to pick something up and have to go through the entire process again.
There seems no way to turn off the gracenote or indexing system (except if you're in an underground car park and it can't get a radio signal)
4) The GPS POI can show you the speed camera's on screen etc but there is no audible warning like there was on the E-Series (I had the Clubsport E3). I'm sorry but surely if you put a 430kw engine in a car the 2nd thing you do is have a speed alert warning drivers of speed cameras and the alike! ;)
I called the Holden dealer and asked how to turn the speed camera alert on - he confirmed there is no audible warning system on the Gen-F's, This simple feature meant I have no points - and with it now missing I find myself constantly looking around for cameras that are popping up everywhere. I loved the audio tone - so HSV please bring it back!!
5) Sound - turning the bass up makes the driver door rattle - quite badly - I reckon it would do well with some better door soundproofing (can be done at home I guess).
Some others had said about the wheel buttons / UI - I agree - used to be able to turn the EDI on, control the albums, tune the radio quite easily in the E Series - they have opted to do most of this via the screen now which is frankly more dangerous to be looking at the middle screen than using the hand controls. Entire left side wheel controls are for cruise control which is a low used feature at the expense of very common controls that have been shifted on screen.
Overall great car and not had any other problems as mentioned here just some grips on poor EDI / GPS / MyLink UI and controls.

I wonder if I got this upgrade last Friday when I had my 3k inspection. The first time I used my sat nav after, I had to acknowledge the warning about using it when driving.
What is the version number of the revised software?

Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
I'm finding the collision alert system to be very good.
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
Well I am 3.5 months into waiting for a replacement seat base. The dates kept on getting pushed out until 13th of December. It's now the 17th and still no seat base available in the country and Holden cannot tell me when it will be available.
I am just over it, the seat base is ****ed but I just put up with it now......not impressed to say the least. Oh well this looks like it will be my last new Holden product.

probably for a lot of us I reckon :shiner:
So far still no issues, touch wood, will get the 3000 in Jan and ask for the AC & seat etc to be updated and or checked.,.... what do you reckon the outcome will be ..... service will play dumb and tell me they have no record of anyone else ever having issues?? :deal:

Yea its ok you can get false warnings but i think its good for those times when you might be distracted for whatever reason and drive up the back of a parked car. Not that ive ever done that but at least you would get a warning.
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
how to do you select for the sat nav to show you where the fixed speed cameras are?

Unless you can do updates yourself I don't see that being of much use given red light cameras often change locations. I only have a portable Garmin Nuvi and subscribe to Garmin for my traffic camera updates. I often find certain cameras can move between a few different spots. To be honest, I'd never pay for a factory satnav system. The portable ones are easily updated with the latest maps (free lifetime in my case) and are extremely flexible re points of interest (POI).
