I dont fully agree with the aesthetics actually. But yea every thing else is good. One thing I would do if I had the HSV would be to take the two small gauges out of the centre console complete waste of time I reckon and they look cheap and they take away storage space.

Let's call it $20k between the Redline and the R8.
R8 has all the electronic fruit of the Redline but gains EDI and the Driver Preference Dial. Mechanically it get's better shocks and springs as well as a better tune of the Electronically assisted steering, it also gains better rubber and larger diameter alloys 20" vs 19" on the Redline and the 4 piston AP brakes. Lets not forget the bi-modal exhaust on the back of the LS3 as well.
Exterior wise the HSV has more agro about it whereas i find the Holden variants a bit plain especially from the back, the Redline needed black tail lights ala VE SS-V. The HSV gets more visually striking LED tail lights.
Internally it gains the single colour interior (IMO much better but each to their own) and the HSV seats are by far superior in comfort and support.
On top of all that is the badge, some of the extra coin must be allowed for the "exclusivity" of the brand. There is a big jump up from the Redline to the R8, there is always the standard Clubsport if the R8 is out of reach.

The HSV front is better but I prefer the SSV rear its less busy and I dont like how the HSV body colour extends down and splits the black lower part

Yea I know what your saying im just think HSV always makes good cars mechanically they just dont seem to get it right with the body kits. Thats just me anyway.
Re: HSV Gen- F Launched - Official Pics/Video and details (Warning: pic heavy)
Looks is always a personal preference. Holden have definitely gone with a more sedate look on VF sports models, I am guessing because this is what marketing was telling them the consumer wanted? It will always appeal to some but not to others, so far though they seem popular so that is a good sign for Holden.
I am still not convinced the R8 is worth the extra money over the redline though, perhaps because the R8 is slightly out of my budget....

Getting a Tourer (week) and I thought the same thing, and am going to seriously consider it.
Real crazy positioning, and as you said, uses up valuable (to driver) storage space.
Am I really going to take my eyes off the road to look all the way down there, and wait for my eyes to adjust?
I currently have a FPV FG GT, and they included the oil guages into the standard instrument cluster, there are 4 really small dials - same problem (and they were up over the console in the BF).
CHEAP !!!

Eww. HSV went full retard when they started stuffing LEDs and oversized vents in everything (ala E3). For me, VY/VZ followed by the VE (so E1 I guess) are the pick.
Re: HSV Gen- F Launched - Official Pics/Video and details (Warning: pic heavy)
Vt, vx, ve1 hsv were the pick of bunch. VF is now growing on me.

I love the Gen-F, just not at 4WD height. :(
