Cross-6>8 swap

Very aggressive tires there XUV!!

Found the Hill decent feature by accident (well didn't know it was doing it but have been in that situation a few times here and it's brilliant, very controlled and poised even in sloppy mud!

Only "scare" I had was when it understeered then decided to lock up and slide towards the Tank near the house, managed to pull it up then thought "How The F**k do I get it out of here as it was blocking the access for the tractor....

Put it in reverse pulled a click or three of handbrake and backed it out no fuss no bother!

The tentative "plan" at this point is to swap drivetrains between the 2 cars so I'll have a low Km V6 Adventra and a very low Km V8 AWD 1 tonner, I'll decide after that if it needs any go fast parts to make it a fun play car, it's HUGE advantage is it's so light, I'll ditch the Steel Tray and build a small lightweight Aluminium one to replace it.

Anyone reading this that knows please jump in, is there any difference between the PCM's from V6>V8 or is it just a flash/engine harness?

Parked the Cross6 beside the Adventra yesterday and was surprised to see that the Crossy wheelbase is 250mm longer and overall about 400mm longer :confused:

Would have picked it the other way around if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!

Explains why the Cross6 is so stable on fast fireroads (it drives like it's on road) Had a play around with the Wagon on a dirt track and it's going to take some getting used to as the front pushes a lot compared to the Ute.

Yeah I know Gay self quote/bump but figure someone out there has to have an idea on this and it'd help to find out now before I start dismantling the 2 cars for the swap...

Late last week I took the X6 on it's first interstate run :)

Plan was to go across to SA pick up a part then head back the next day, plans change and I needed to be back in Melbourne the following morning so after leaving home around 8:30am I did a quick turnaround and headed back out that afternoon figuring if I got too tired I'd find a Motel on the way back and sleep.

Car was smooth and comfortable on the trip, only gripe was less than good economy/small fuel tank resulting in a slight miscalculation and a detour to a town large enough to have 24 hour fuel, got in at 2:30am then up again for the 120Km trip to Melbourne!

All in all very impressed with the car as it has NONE of the Old 1 Tonner neg traits (You'd have to have been insane to take a HQ/Z Tonner on a 18 hour trip)

a tune should really help the economy of the alloytec.

Who does tunes for the Alloytec's in the trust Adventra's? I thought it could only have basic settings changed - 'cause none of the tuning software really had much done for the Alloytec's...

I know i'd love to get a little better in the fuel economy and poke department...

Still having trouble getting anyone to answer this sort of Question Sen, also haven't been able to pin down anyone that's used both of the big2 tuning solutions to get an honest opinion which is better.

x6 Update!
Was going for a wander into the bush yesterday and noticed a Neighbour had sunk her Territory off the side of her drive......

Cruised in and offered to pull her out, she declined saying it was her Hubby's fault and he'd pull it out when he got home, I asked what he drove..... a GOLF :rofl: like that was ever going to work!

Laid out some strap so I could get up onto the hard packed part of the drive and gently extracted her no fuss no bother did it like a champ!

Small update!
Finally got around to swapping in a new water pump on the Wagon, figured I'd get it registered before I make a start on the tonner so I have a nice DD.

Stripped the old parts yesterday, it was seeping from the weep hole and the gasket/seals were stuffed, fitted the new one this morning in the cool along with a pair of accessory belts filled it with fresh Zerex coolant so it's just waiting on a replacement rear muffler then can go for a RWC.

Adventra is booked in for a RWC tomorrow then Rego Monday morning, drove it to town yesterday on an UnReg Permit to test the work done so far and all good :D

Bit surprised that the Cross6 shares the same Diff ratio's, wondering if that's an AWD Front diff limitation or are there other ratio's available?

The Whale passed the RWC no probs at all, Driving impressions now I've put some KM's on it, more roll than the Titanic compared to the Cross6 Tonner but looking at the roof line no surprise there.

MUCH better equipped than the Tonner being a higher specced car to start with, LS1 just plain shits all over the V6 in every way, Trans mapping in the V8 is much more sensible without the kick down to 2nd at 100KMH on hills of the V6.

Once it's registered Monday I'll make a start on the L98>Tonner swap :D

Looking at the views people do read this but it feels a bit like I'm talking to myself at times.....

Ran the Whale down to the city today to have a few things sorted, the LS1 actually gets better highway economy than the Cross6's V6......

Same Diff ratios so same rpm/kmh.. this is a touch "sad" considering the Addy is a 200k KM engine and the V6 has 60k on it..

Ahh well bodes well for the upcoming 6.0L Transplant!

The Addy has turned out to be an awesome deal considering what I paid for it and what it's cost me to put on the road!

Just read all your thread mate, good to see the plans you have. Are you still going to put the AWD system into the tonner?

The Tonner is already AWD :D

The Plan is to pull the v6 and replace it with a 700 Km old L98 I have here from the last project.
