Yeh, I was worried about the stripes but I purchased a full set of stencils to get them spot on.

your so lucky picking up a gts the yellow & black look great on these older cars,

hers my cousins HX version seems the same color, all original he's owned it since new & never been in a bingle.
just got it finished from a full restore in time for his daughters wedding.

when I get my own place Im getting a hq to restore, so keep up with the photo's.

I think that yellow is a fair bit brighter than mine but yellow and black:bow:

them doors aint too bad, the back left one has the standard dent at the front looks like it flew open on a windy day

so lucky to have a good solid metal in the panels!

Looks awesome mate, love them HQs. I think I've seen that car around when it used to be in Victoria judging by the rego in the first few pics. The body on that is in great shape. Which my LC body was that good. I look forward to see pics when its repainted and reassembled.

Steve, The sticker on the rear screen says Preston Motors. I'm not sure where they are but from what I understand it has been in Wangaratta for about 30 years.

Rust repairs where started last week and one side done. I have been in Melbourne this week on holiday's and hopefully the other side is done. Will be back next week and take a few more pics. Should not take too long to paint once repairs are finished.

Is there any reason why you bare metalled all the hang on panels but not the shell? Looks like it is coming along nicely and a good body to start with.

The main reason was that the nose cone was full of stone chips and was easier to acid dip than sand, and the doors were done as they were second hand and we wanted to get them right. The main body was in fairly good condition.
Went to check the car out today and all rust repaired and should start to get paint in the next day or so.
