Top work mate. Bet you're stoked. Cant see why it wouldnt have a ten in it as is. Should be a pretty consistent car once you get the hang of the shifter...

the car is back in the shop, after i changed the wastegate spring from 7.?psi to 11.6 psi, getting the tune touched up. so should get a few extra ponies, and hopefully wont kill the motor. will just be running that gate pressure from now on, until i can afford an electronic boost controller. small hiccup with the knock sensor that is plugged into the sump. the wires look a little fried, from sitting to close to the exhaust. so hopefully will see all this sorted.
pick up car tomorrow, has been retuned, and the exhaust had to be changed a bit to meet ANDRA rules. just added a small muffler. also had an isolator switch installed. when i get it home, i will be washing it, putting on my ANDRA numbers and giving it a general clean for the weekend.
for those with facebook, https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater
for those that dont, its a quick vid of the car on the dyno. made 568rwhp, with 1200+nm of torque. :)
so, the weekend was excellent. some very nice cars and good people. on saturday, in the qualifiers, i managed a best of 11.735 @ 125mph. 60ft was around 2.1secs. i did an 11.755 @ 126mph with a similar 60ft. not bad, for a car with the standard diff gears. will defs do low 11s with some practice. the first run off the trailer was 11.8 @ 123mph. was a surprise when the 12psi kicked in.
on sunday, in the eliminators, i ran 11.966 @123 and then another 11.966 @ 124mph. one was a little quicker. i thought this would be my magic number so i dialled in 11.95 and ran a 11.83. all this got me into the finals, which i proceeded to make a schamozzle of by redlighting, (somehow i crept through), chucking a hissy fit and flooring the bloody car to a 13.????@ 123mph. i got runner up, again, :headbang: , which i am happy with. the car ran consistent mph of 123-126 mph, so the horsie ponies are there. just needs a decent driver :) .
ill throw some pics and vids up over the next few days.....
oohhhh, and i think the water pump or thermostat packed it in, cos it got a bit hot when i was putting it on the trailer :( the frikkin joys of modified cars.........

well, zane from insane performance came around, and we put the arp studs in, with new gaskets. he also did the trunion upgrade for me while i was at work. after he torqued down the studs, i spent the next few hours reassembling the rest of the thing, turbo exhaust, etc.. on friday, discovered that the radiator was stuffed, so the guys at insane sourced one in about 20 mins, stuck that in, refilled it and put it back on the dyno for a run. was ok at low speeds, then when zane went to do a power run it coughed and spluttered, , long story short, a compression test shows that the rear 2 cylinders are significantly low on comp compared to the other 6. pretty sure its just the rings from being overheated last month. the motor is coming out next fortnight, i'll throw it on a stand, and Zane is going to help me pull it down, if it is just rings, we will deglaze the bores and replace rings, i will drop the psi down to 9 or 10, as i dont think 12 was helping, and should be racing at the october meet for my birthday . if it is a bit more serial, i will be getting a cast iron block and 402/3/8 ci stroker rotating assembly and using the heads and accessories i have. the fiance says we will be racing by february if this is the case awesome woman, thats why im marrying her next week..
pretty bummed out, but at least i didnt kill it completely, or drop a tonne of metal and oil at the track and possibly ruin someone elses day.
motor is out. did it all by myself, in the garage. :) yay for me.

then found out need some longer bolts to bolt it to the bloody engine stand. i thought the tranny bellhousing bolts would have fit, but they are about 2inches to short. so its sitting on some bricks till i go to the bolt shop in the morning.

i didnt even scratch anything getting it out.
lightened a piston by breaking it into smaller bits
http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps090720b2.jpg
bent rod, broken piston.
http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...psa49777e1.jpg
yay, look what i found :)
http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...pscf662d7d.jpg
when i got the motor pulled down to this point, i was kinda hopeful, no signs of damage so far, then when i took the other head off, i knew something was broke.
http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps3bf980bf.jpg
the other side, my first clue something was stuffed
http://i741.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps6678bc6b.jpg
it actually looks like 2 broken pistons, front and rear on drivers side, and four bents rods, both front and both rear cylinders. a small scratch in a bore and some marks around the rotating assembly at the bottom of the cylinders, on the crank etc..
new short block ordered, and paid for with a few other things.
