Ive got the full size spare it fits in the boot with the boot covering flat.
One thing ive noticed is the seats really dont offer enough lateral support given the cornering ability. Im not saying the corning is outstanding as I think there is alot of room for improvement if you want to go that way but it will compromise overall comfort for a street driven vehicle if major improvements where made to the suspension. But the seats need more support so I emailed the dealer to see if I can get HSV seats ordered for it.
Yea its just if you take it out for a fast drive on your favourite twisty bit of road your really hanging off the steering wheel a bit not supported by the seat sides it really does grip enough to really need better bolstered seats
Maybe the 20mm skunk stripe of Alcantara isn't enough. I haven't done any "spirited" driving yet but will keep it in mind.
I'm going to change the suspension but im going to have to have a good think because to get significantly better its hard to do without really compromising the ride around town. I really think some bilstein or WP coil overs. I could have a chat to jamie drummond as well because im familiar with his 50mm coil overs for rally cars but not sure if he makes steetable ones lol
I got a price on the HSV seats apparently if I want the GTS seats in my redline through spare parts im looking at between 10k and 11k hahahahahaha I had a good laugh when they told that. I guess I wont be doing that then.
looks great, really dig the white!
WA Suspension here in Perth said the max they would go is 25-30mm lower with springs only and if I wanted it any lower I would have to go coilovers...
Does that make sense to anyone?
I am sure you can get it lower with springs only but maybe beyond that you might need short stroke shocks too?
They didn't explicitly mention the need for shocks - and I didn't ask either as I was in a rush - but I know from experience that you are going to need short stroke shocks if you lower it too much. In my old VY SS ute the front would bottom out if it hit say a storm water cover or similar bump in the road at speed.
IMO they're half right - if they meant only 25 - 30 mm with stock shocks they're right, but not everybody can afford coilovers which are a substantial jump in price over springs and shocks - new King springs with Monroe GT short shocks are just under $700 on eBay (assuming VE stuff suits VF) plus allow around $300 for fitting and 4 wheel alignment. Most coilovers are double that and more, typically not including fitting. That's a big premium to pay if you're mainly interested in looks with better handling but not optimum handling.
Plenty of us on here have run Kings and Monroes down to almost 70mm lower without sacrificing comfort, although some guys who push their cars harder feel the King/Monroe combination is a bit soft in the rear when pushed so have gone to HD King springs with the Monroes - apparently pretty good! Other more expensive options include Koni yellows which everybody seems pretty pleased with.
My old SSV sedan on Kings & Monroes then my ute - seemed fine to me!!

Thanks Wonky, that is what I would have expected. I will have to grill them more when I am a bit closer to getting it done. I ain't keen on spending $1850 for coilovers when I can get the result I want for a considerable saving.
