There is with the older Bluetooth and the newer version, I dont know if any or all iphones support the newer one
I just tried out the bluetooth audio with my iPhone 4S daily phone... all you can do on the head unit is next/previous track and play/pause. Yes it shows what's playing but you can't change anything else without touching the phone. Also tried an iPhone 5 with Spotify on it, pairs up but doesn't play at all. In iPod mode (cable connection) I can control everything from the head unit. Artist/album/playlist, the works. I never have to touch the phone.
With my Alpine head unit, it will display the song & artist names over the Bluetooth as well as allow many functions, however the audio playback is a lot quieter compared to just having the iPod/iphone 4S physically connected in iPod mode. To me Bluetooth audio streaming is purely a convenience thing, however audio quality does suffer
Bluetooth rapes the battery. So I avoid it in the car and just go USB. On the bike no problem as I charge it and Bluetooth to my helmet. Track skip, vol, play/pause work fine in spotify
So is owning an Australian made V8 engined car hey fella. People from "now" drive small capacity, tiny snailed hatchbacks rather than big engined dinosaurs made in this damn hick country..:stick:
A world obsessed with the latest and greatest is now suffering what this thread talks about. Every couple of years or so something we own becomes obsolete.
The newest most definitely ain't always the greatest in this modern era...
