19 Dec 2010 t-boned by a blind b**ch who came through a stop light as I turned with a green arrow. Happened at Parkhill Drive and Princes Highway, Berwick (Timbarra), Vic.

The damage was to the B Pillar, r. rear door, and extended in to bend the floor pan under the rear seat. The reason given was there is a "rail" of alloy, integral with the shell, that cannot be welded in place, and cannot be replaced, as it is related to ADR crumple provisions.

I asked Holden, through their Cust. Help Line, if it was possible to get a new shell with the same VIN and Chassis number - I have not heard from them, to this day.

By that time the RACV had found a red one in Qld, or the white one they got in Perth. It was an oil burning shit heap, and I lost $75k to get the GEN-F GTS in 2013.

I would have given anything to get that W repaired, but failed… and as I said, seeing it still around, but unusable, is still heart-rending.

Update: I had a call in maybe mid 2011 from the guy that bought it. He wanted the HSV plate I removed when it was made a Stat write-off. Told him, sorry, no. He had "repaired" it, and told me he would sell it in NZ for heaps. Sure. I guess that never happened.

I have posted this previously on the HSV forums, but am "happy" to put it here too. Hope the women who hit me burns in hell... (can I say that??).

Sorry for your loss mate, that's heartbreaking :bawl:. Like my mate said with damage in particular areas non negotiable for repairs, obviously that crumple zone's what killed it. Barring the rear guard possibly rubbing it looks like you could have still driven it.

Thanks Jason. I did drive it out out the middle of the intersection, and waited for the police. Never did hear what happened to the other driver. She went off in and Ambulance. Marlene and I went off to the Dandenong hospital - but then released.

The body was a wee bit twisted - the bonnet no longer met the guards cleanly.

It's after a crash like that that you realise you could have woken up dead - if it had been a truck instead of a Nimbus.

Damm, I guess it done it's job and saved your life, but it still is a horrible outcome!

I noticed when I clicked on a link from my email it took me to your photobucket page, do you still have the GTS Coupe?
I am chasing one at the moment!

Wow incredible story, a heartbreaking one too.

I don't get the part of the story about the RACV - did they find a replacement for you? So it sounded like you ended up with another white one that had issues?

Without a doubt, at least yourself and your wife are still alive and here to talk about it and that's always the most important part no matter what value our material things have to us. Unfortunately it still doesn't entirely take the bitter taste away when it's someone else's fault though. Best wishes for the future, hopefully you might find a really good second hand one for the right price some day to make up for it.

HK 327 GTS $3400 new in 1969 - kept it till the HQ came out - traded on a HQ 350 GTS, that was $4200. The 2002 V2 GTS was $102,000, with Telematics and Sat Nav, no sunroof. My, how times change. And yes, I wish I could have afforded to keep all my cars, but that's a dream.
