They probably give it a final buff at the caryard, one of those things that aren't/shouldn't be seen,
A bit like getting the big hammer to drop the ball joints, no one wants to be seen doing that and the average joe would be agog seeing that ;)

The first one we've got was getting PD'd today.
I saw two this morning at a Melb dealer being prepared for handover (one white and one prussian), i think one is getting picked up tomorrow morning.......so may just see one on the road shortly. Certainly the brakes look monstrous in the flesh, and really like the shadow(??) chrome work on the exhaust tips...and dare I say it, the rear end is really starting to grow on me (especially after viewing the Tander sideways action at Broadford...or wherever it was)....maybe the appeal of all that white smoke trailing out the rear is clouding my judgement (pardon the pun).
Reading the latest Wheels magazine and there is a short article about the new Corvette (Gen V Lt1), the possibility of this engine making it into the HSV in the not to distant future is the only thing stopping me buying now. If our resident "rumour" man Bouka was able to throw out some clues?
The thought of the Lt1 in the Gen f makes me very excited, 338Kw and 630nm out of the box sounds like good numbers add to that the fuel numbers into the 7's on the Corvette.
Surely it's a given it will find its way into the HSVs? Especially with Holden falling behind in power with their ancient 6.0L still at 260-270kw. Not sure how this fits in with the LS3 going over to Holden (is there any other option for them?) which then allows HSV to get the LT1. Exciting also could be a Nissan 370z style rev match on the manuals (Corvette has it now) and flappy paddle shifts for the auto. I love showing off my heel and toe technique but the rev match on the 370 is that bloody good I almost never turn it off. It even allows double clutching on most changes (just not on 4th to 3rd). Only been turning it off lately to get ready for my GTS since I've been spoilt for so long. The LT1 is better than it looks at first glance too - check out the torque it makes at low rpm compared with the LS3. An auto Senator with an LT1? Yes please.
Surely the LT1 development will depend on the take up in the States for the Chevy SS? If demand is soft I doubt any development $ will be spent there and HSV won't even get their hands in the cookie jar. Support stateside and the LT1 should find its way into the HSV models. I assume there is plan for a force fed version of the LT1 but maybe that will be too late for the GTS? What would be interesting is GM taking a GTS to the states for evaluation. Then offer three different LSA models!
Must be too expensive to use the giant condoms that GM use on new Corvettes...

Spoke to the dealer this morning and no news. Car is still in transit from Melbourne. Dealer will be notified when it arrives. Then about a week until it is mine. So the 26th plus or minus a couple of days is still looking the date.
As far as I know HSVs are transported to the distribution centre in covered wagons (transporters) and then moved around the city as above to the dealer pre delivery location. So I am guessing the black GTS was on its final journey.
Hmm. Not looking good for me to get mine this month if yours is still that far off. :-(
