I remember "Ash Marshall" very well, at the Fisherman's Bend Drags. He was very successful running a supercharged 392 Hemi with 2000HP (nothing these days), but good enough for around a 7 second time over the 1/4 mile as it was in those days.
From memory, I think Marshall was also responsible for bringing out the Dodge "Ramcharger" Team from the U.S. & He also made a LOT of money from his U.S. originated Golden Products / "Soapy Sales" soap/detergent franchise, a sort of pyramid selling deal, & I think that as He was the first in Aussie, He would've done quite well.
At his peak, I think He would've been the fastest in Aussie, & He was also a real "Showman", a sort of Norm Beechey of Drag Racing!!

7.3 litre Harrop Supercharged Sleeper. :yup:
Excellent, I think those pics could've been taken at the Fishermans Bend track. They were EXCELLENT days, there weren't nearly as many rules & regulations as there are today. I can remember at the Fisherman's bend strip standing only about 10' (no barriers!) away from AA fuelers when they took off from the line!
Ron Harrop would've been there, things like a Rolls Royce Merlin powered Holden early model (FX/FJ) with driver's head poking out through the back window, & Dave Bennett was a runner in his HR Premier.
I've forgotten a lot of stuff, but they were very good days.
