Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
Sorry if this has been covered before. A mate asked for a photo of the front brake so I took one wheel off. I have plenty of good quality tools but thought I would use the stuff that was prepared earlier to see how it goes. The jack works and is almost fit for purpose but has anyone tried to use that bit of bent tinplate that is in the boot to undo a wheelnut letalone five? I bent mine into a lovely piece of modern art. Then discovered that the wheelnuts are to be done up to 190Nm! No wonder. So now I have a breaker bar and socket living in the back when I put the spare in for trips. I would love to see anyone use the supplied tool to get to a torque value of even half that.
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
Every now and then, front speakers of my (Gen-F) Tourer cut out (radio only from rear speakers, no indicators (which is nice:-), none of the beeps I have no idea what it is going on about (even nicer)).
Have to turn car off and sometimes take key away from the car to get it to reset and start working again.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
A couple of things to note with my R8, had the steering wheel replaced as the leather was peeling in the top corner. Also had the drivers side boot lid tail lamp replaced as one of the LED's was blown. No other issues to report.
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
So recently my Redline ute has randomly struggled to start. It throws up the "Service Front Camera" warning on the dash too. The other day when I pushed the start button, it lit up only a few of the dash lights at first and then fired up with a struggle.
Fast forward to 5am this morning and it refused to start at all when I went to leave work. The starter motor was trying but it wouldn't kick over. When I kept trying, it just ticked and the dash went a bit crazy, throwing up random warnings to service various things. Luckily I live within walking distance of work so I just hot footed it home. I'm about to wander back down and give it another crack, but has anyone else had this issue? The car is booked in at the local Holden dealer on Tuesday, but this is some weird shit.

Sounds like a battery issue to me?
Re: VF Commodore/HSV Owner's Problems & Complaints
It quite possibly is, but that doesn't really explain the service warnings for random shit like the front camera.

Yep, VEs did that sort of stuff when the battery was dying, though a VF battery shouldn't be dying yet unless there's a related issue or the car doesn't get driven enough to keep it charged. From memory VEs also had a problem with a wire or plug??? on the starter working loose, though that again is unlikely on so new a vehicle and probably wouldn't lead to random warnings. Just some other possibilities to check and eliminate. :)
