Re: The slow death of our great Australian cars
Amen to that.
I copped a lot of flack going from a 'JDM as fark' R32 Skyline to a VZ from all of my enthusiast mates, as if I was getting one purely for the sake of being a bogan, and to put chev badges on / do burnouts in. A year later, and I don't regret the decision for a minute.
That's the mindset getting around though - only chev badge sporting bogans own Falcodores, and the 'regular' people own grey imports or Euros. I don't take it personally, and if anything I use the way mine is tastefully modified to prove the point that not all Commodore drivers are mindless idiots. I do like taking the piss out of the worst offenders though (ie buying cheap anodized crap coilovers for "handling", stickerbombs etc etc)
Re: The slow death of our great Australian cars
i went from a VX SS to a MY05 wrx... and back to a VY SS...(a week later  )
i guess people have different opinions, but i found the WRX as nothing more than a overpriced huyndai shitbox with
a turbo bolted onto it. Much much preferred the VY as a car overall.
My VZ clubbie.. omg this car is soo good, both me and mum prefer it over the 2002 BMW 320ci coupe (2.2ltr 6 cyl) that we have
in the garage. I drive bothg cars to work depending on the days of the week, and its no contest. The beamer is an excellent
handling car, but the clubbie is right up there with it.

Yep, we all find them different. When I went from my VY to my 2011 WRX I suddenly couldn't believe how badly my VY handled!

agreed.
I drive my gto as a daily, but it feels like a barge compared to my s15 and the s15 has about half the power.
Driving the s15 everyday though is awful. Comes down to what you want from a car.

Re: The slow death of our great Australian cars
Even though sales of the VE have declined we have to remember that it is still Holden's best selling vehicle .
I'm sure that if they kept making the Commodore after the VF and they learn from past mistakes it will be a success well into the future.
Just my opinion.
