Ahhh this for a start. 300 000 euros is the rough cost to build a leading WSBK. Hence. BARGAIN!!

Hey if you just want to go for horsepower maybe you should buy one of these. Also track only sorry. But $60k for over 300HP isn't bad

Ohhh but it doesn't have a precious Sukuki badge on it. Oh well I guess you could always Turbo a Hyabussa. That will be just as good a bike after all:weirdo:

Yes it is a big difference. And so is comparing a used ASBK to a HP4 Race!!

H2R or Hayabusa do nothing for more...
I was on the verge of buying a brand new BMW S1000RR last year, as I said way back at the start of this trend, I've been holding off keeping my options open.
Suzuki lost me @ $27490 ride away...

Re: 2017 GSX-R1000/R World Media Launch at Phillip Island This week...
It does cost thousands of dollars for that little bit extra. But it's what it takes in the sport. As for impressive results on lower end machinery goes. Did you realise that Hutchy beat the superbike record last year on a Superstock S1000RR. Lets see a Gixxer do that.

You can buy a brand new runout 2016 GSX-R1000 Today.... for $15990 ride away, drop it straight off at PTR (Phil Tainton Racing), and have the same spec bike as the 2013 ASBK bike, built for well under $50K (including initial purchasing price) being my point.
BMW Australia hasn't released HP4 Race Australian pricing yet, being Australia, its going to be crazy coin.
The BMW HP4 Race is an awesome bike, no doubt about it...
In the US, GSX-R1000R are around $16K US RRP, some people are getting them for $15K US ride away no more to pay, (so approx $20K AUD....)
The Australian pricing for 2017 GSX-R1000's is crazy.
It's the largest price rise for GSX-R1000's since first released back in 2001.
2001 to 2016 prices have only gone up like $2K approx over 16 years.
2017 GSX-R1000R, has jumped up like $7K in one year.
Something does add up...

You would be better off buying a 2015-2016 s1000rr like mine as nothing has changed. Good value compared to the gixxer

Also more on that. When you buy BMW it's more than just a bike. You get the whole premium experience from invitations to corporate days. Complimentary bike when servicing and all that good stuff. Servicing prices are reasonable too and tgeyre every 10000ks not 6000 like Jap bikes. Insurance through BMW is great too. Mine was just up for renewal so I looked around. $1200 was what most wanted. BMW $66/m no extra for paying monthly. So there is all that stuff to consider too

Premium experience and corporate days, shit if a HP4's $120 000+ landed over here in Aus it would want to have an automatic hand that comes up from under the seat and wanks you off every time you ride it as well.
If they're looking for a salesman at Morgan and Wacker BMW you should throw your CV in Macca, you've just about got me convinced to trade my miserable old SP-2 in. F#ck I'm only about 60hp and 15 years of technology behind you. :)

Well the average buyer walking through the doors of a BMW dealership is often spending that kind of money and some. Us mere peasants buying relatively cheap bikes are just cashing in on the people spending the real money in there. [emoji41]

Yes its coming up to 16 years old this October... but it ain't slow that's for sure...

I've got to get back out there. I've since learnt a lot more about how to launch the bike. Compared to others my time is shit as that's with launch control. For my weight it's a disadvantage to use it as it limits power in the first couple of gears. Drags isn't why I have a bike anyway. Be mad to buy an s1000rr just for that.

Thanks mate, no it's not for sale, I was gently taking the piss. I have thought about trading it in a few times but I have no desire to now. The problem is it's currently suffering a bit from only doing maybe three or four hundred km in the last ten years, I'm in the process of tidying up a few things at the moment to hopefully get out and use it again.
SP-2's were a good thing in their day (2002), but like I said above now it's about 60hp short and 30kg too fat. Given the power it's got is more than I'm capable of using especially on the road, I can only imagine how insane your Beemer or any of the other current 1000cc super sport bikes must be to ride.

What slip on exhaust's have you got on your SP2 or still OEM?
I have a Dan Moto slip on, on my GSX-R1000 K2, its the best bang for the buck slip on, hands down IMO...
Cost for quality is Sensational!!!......
They make them for your SP2 too...
Stainless Steel, Tig welded, real carbon barrel, nice small light weight compact design, sound is very deep and loud (but not stupid loud, I always use ear plugs), sounds awesome on my bike...
But on your SP2 it would sound Phenomenal with the V Twin......
The best part of all, it's only $264.60 US or $350.28 AUD, including shipping to your front door step!!!...
I've had the Dan Moto on my K2 for over 6 years now, no problems what so ever....
Mine only being a single, was only $120 AUD to my door, unbeatable price...
When I ordered my, ordered on a Thursday, rocked up on my door step Tuesday morning... 5 Days direct, awesome service.
I remember a guy with a SP2 back in 2005, Paying.... wait for it..... $1600 AUD for a pair of micron carbon slip on's.... :lmao:
Here is the SP2 pics and link...

Those twins have such good low end grunt though. An old mate of mine had a 2000 TLR1000. I loved that bike as like the SP2 they sound amazing. Its a very different kind of power with the twins. Comes on quick. The I4's just rev like crazy. Not that the newer stuff is lacking in torque down low. But due to the linear delivery, they don't feel as quick as they are.

Macca, the power delivery of my SP-2 motor is surprisingly peaky for a twin and not very wide. Compared to say a Firestorm which pulls pretty well from 6000RPM or below it doesn't really pull hard until around 8000 and it's pretty much all over by 10 000, it does sound good though. Doing some track days many years ago even getting on the power early coming out of corners I pretty much watched any litre sports bike (GSX-R, R1 etc) run away from me down the straight and they only had about 150-155hp back then.
The one thing I had going for me is I could carry pretty good speed into a corner but we weren't racing so sticking it up the inside of someone had too much potential to end in tears. I'd generally rely on getting on the power early (as someone shit scared of highsiding could anyway), minimise my losses up the straight and hopefully grab them under brakes before we actually turned in if possible. That depended on them not being a particularly good rider of course, a decent rider on a litre bike simply disappeared up the road.
I rode the 2004 Fireblade at a Honda day at QR back then and shit it was fast and the least powerful of them all at the time with about 145hp. I was shifting gears down the straight like I was on a YZ80 and looking for the brakes before I knew it. Like I said, your BMW or any of the 1000's must be absolutely insane now, just scary fast I'd imagine.

I'm totally happy with their exhaust, I have no experience with any of their other products, as I have only purchased their slip on exhaust.

You couldn't possibly go wrong for $120, the welds look like they're pretty high quality but even if it was a piece of shit, for that money you'd simply throw it away without being too upset.
In the pic I quoted the back tyre suggests that the bike gets some fairly solid use as well SAS.

God knows why Suzuki did it. Must be some sort of emission rule. But if other bikes can pass then I don't get it. One thing is for sure. Theyre bullshitting about the power they make. Even derestricted that's no where near their claimed 200hp even with drive train loss.

The R model isn't available in Australia till October...
Australia seems to be the last place in the World to get the new models.
Heaps of people in the UK, Europe, and the US, have their R model's now...
I wouldn't buy one straight away, as soon as, there available in October, as being a 100% new model, you'd be paying top dollar for the privilege... Especially with the crazy $27490 ride away price...
I went to the Melbourne, Suzuki New 2017 Model launch at the Olsen Hotel last Thursday (06/07/17) night, the first time I've seen it up close, and could sit on the bike's etc...
The bike is Tiny!!!...... Felt like I was sitting on a 600, not a 1000...
The tail section/fairing, would be approx two third's smaller than my 2002 GSX-R1000 K2...
The tank is a lot narrower, the whole bike is very small and compact... it's been packaged very well IMO...
With double win's in ASBK and Moto America SBK's last weekend, the all new GSX-R1000R is performing extremely well...
Here's a couple of pic's at the Olsen Hotel launch night, my Brother took, who came along with me to check it out, plus enjoy the free beers and food...
