Let's just say, I've just emailed the guys at Sureflo :goodjob: Don't get me wrong, I rate the DF stuff - good sound, good quality. But the cats are rooted. FI definitely puts extra strain on them. Just my 2c.
There are probably as many reports per capita/car of stuffed DF cats as XForce cats from what I've heard. There obviously aren't anywhere near as many full DF systems as full XForce but I've heard of quite a few DF cat failures too. :(

i'm still running the 200 cpi hi flow di-filippo cats at the moment, i spoke with darren and he said they havn't had a failure with the cats i have,,,,, i have had them on for 12,000km on my blown 408ci and they appear to still be good as i ran it in a dyno comp a month ago and it made 778hp, i will be taking them off in a few weeks to inspect them and maybe try a set of ballistic cats
Re: My blocked x force cats
Why do they fail, poor materials or shoddy design?
Re: My blocked x force cats
i was told by xforce it is the rich mixtures run with FI engines that do it
can destry a cat in a very short time thay said ??
Re: My blocked x force cats

are you still running ballistic cats if so what do you think of them ?,,,,,, i hope to pick up a bit more power if i change to them as i can see the cats on my car now have been getting pretty hot
Re: My blocked x force cats
one of my x force cats collapsed.
and was making really siht knockign sound. was only 6 months old and they wouldnt cover warranty due it the car being 'tuned'.
so i was liek **** it, just smashed it out.
being metal cats, it took a fair while to knock out, had to get the oxy torchin there to melt it out :(

no issues so far boost is staying constant at 10.5 psi
if the boost starts to go up ill know what to look for

if yours starts to go up, my next option would be to knock the middles out....

If you take the car off the road as a daily then ull be fine but if you get caught and the cats are gutted then you better bend over and hope they use lube. :goodjob:

Cars with gutted cats have a unique and therefore recognisable exhaust gas smell making it easy for any cop worth his salt to detect. With a potential $10k or $15k fine if you're done I certainly wouldn't be taking the risk. :nutkick:

i pulled the cats out of my car today to check how they were,,, well they are still perfect so i'm guessing these newer di-filippo cats are pretty good, although i'm still thinking of fitting 100cpi ballistics as i am sure they would flow better
Re: My blocked x force cats
Has anybody ever used magnaflow cats? or had any fail?
