As mentioned by Jason01... Bayliss's one off wild card ride in MotoGP in 2006 where he was called up by Ducati to replace injured Sete Gibernau for one race only, was his most impressive result IMO...

Bayliss rocks up to the MotoGP race weekend cold turkey, and Win's the race... :bow:

Can't believe it was 11 years ago...


Just hope he can be competitive, as it'll bring a lot of much needed attention, to the extremely under promoted ASBK...

Was it Capirossi coming a distant second? I recall Troy looking back, seemingly not knowing whether he should slow down or take the glory. Glad he got the W.

I also recall he wanted the front end off his old super bike on the motogp bike.... factory kept knocking him back until one day they tried it and he went faster!

I remember he lost his Ducati Moto GP ride to Carlos chuck it Checa, I reckon pretty much everyone except Ducati and Checa thought that was a mistake and they were proved right. Bayliss should have stayed on that bike, his loyalty to Ducati has been amazing considering he got publicly screwed with that decision.

I'm surprised Casey Stoner eventually went back testing with them as well after they offered his ride to Lorenzo while he was battling the fatigue issues in the 2009 season. Ducati must be very good at rebuilding burnt bridges.

There's a big gap to the Suzuki but Troy Bayliss is competitive :cool:.

I usually hate sporting comebacks but I really want to see him do well. Reading between the lines at the time I don't think he really wanted to pull the plug when he did.

With 50 entries in ASBK this year , its one of the biggest fields ever...

They all must want to race with Bayliss......

Bayliss had the lead in the dieing stages of the 2nd half of restarted race 1 due to rain, but was piped by Troy Herfoss, and Waters came in 3rd, after leading the first half of the race before the red flag for rain.

The tank looked like a Katana.
Wonder if the Hayabusa will be dropped from the lineup , its getting to be a bit of a dinosaur and near on 20 years with one update in 2008 (i have an 07).

New patents have been filled by Suzuki for a semi auto transmission system for the Haybusa, going by the rumors...

Hopefully it'll be an all new bike, not just an update.

Time will tell...
