[QUOTE=VNBT1;1737512]I tried that too, standard vn pump and standard fuel system/return lines but the fuel pressure wasnt constant, i even tried a BMW X5 external pump that has the fuel reg in it but it didnt help so with the prices of aftermarket fuel regs, pumps and surge tanks i decided to do a boot setup! It saves so much headaches/messing aroundQUOTE]
the only cause of inconsistant fuel pressure is the pressure reg on the back of the fuel rail. so if you had a problem with the fuel pressure not being constant than that was where the problem was.. nothing to do with the the standard system or pump.. you can flow as much fuel as you can to the rail but if the reg is faulty then it will give inconsistant pressures as it will be bleeding off too early.. a simple fix to that would be to have a separate reg on the return line or just buy a new reg
Small progress..
Bent the rack end of the VZ V8 high pressure line and removed the locating tab near the bend to clear the header pipe. This was surprisingly easy, although the first time I bent it 180degrees the wrong way. Boy did I feel like a retard. Anyway 2 directly opposing dodgy vise-and-visegrip spec bends later I had a line that will fit and hopefully do the job.

There was a fair bit of stuffing around with bullshit angles and tight spaces to get the steering all bolted up, but a few nasty words later I had it all in place for a test fit, which turned out good enough to become the final fit :) You can't see much of bugger all in these pics but they're an idea of where I'm up to anyway:

Also bought a black momo steering wheel for it, and one of these is mine:

Instead of belting the body with what seems a very large mallet , why not just heat up the extractors with an oxy and massage them to clear any obstructions .
I heated mine a few times to get them to clear various rails / steering components and floor , no biggie just a bit of patience . They are built to a price and work ok , ive fitted a few to VL-VK and VH's and all needed some massaging but worked out fine .

Here's the general idea of how my steering setup runs, this would have helped me out to see how others had run theirs so I figure someone will benefit from this :)

Bit of slit hose as a temporary grommet to stop my clutch low pressure line from sawing itself open

Clutch reservoir mounted, this took an ODDLY large amount of time..

Also on the reservoir I had a good laugh at this cast into the plastic

Moved on to interior work, as a result the car now has a more complete interior than it has had in 5???? years, maybe longer.
Leftover bits still in the boot waiting on power windows install...

Never mind the ripped seat, these are only temporary anyway until I find some better ones :) same goes for a fair bit of this interior really

Bridged park/neutral safety switch, the starter now operates from the key which is nice :)

People seem to love writing in my dust :(

Also had a crack at bleeding the clutch setup tonight; I'm not really confident it's right just yet, unsure how to approach it due to a couple of weirdly running lines. I have been reading a lot lately about people having issues with the clutch slave setup in these conversion kits, I REALLY hope my box doesn't have to come out again.
Also filled the power steering reservoir then realised that until I start the engine and get the pump going (which I won't until coolant is present) I can't really fill it properly, since the high pressure line comes out the top of the pump and it doesn't seem to want to run down the low pressure way :)... not just by turning lock to lock anyway. No big deal, will do once started with drive belt on. Also connected 1 tie rod end, got sidetracked before doing the other one so I must remember to do that in the morning :p
That's all for now, more to follow tomorrow.

TEST DRIVE DONE
clutch is dicky as ****
like, doesn't release all the way
but shit it's quicker than a 304 or 215i
Mate I just saw the vice grip bends on your pipes further up the page and think you should have a look at this link I find these very helpful while doing custom brake lines on my car
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Brake-line-be...item4aa20b1250
took VN for longer drive
got clutch now after re bleed
started losing gears half way through drive
then lost ALL GEARS ON BOTTOM ROW and half the time top row would pop out
pulled over
ripshifter stops had come undone :) and wouldn't let it engage gears
so pulled them out
drives ok now except having no cyls under load at low rpm lol it drops 2 or 3 cyl, betting plugs / leads are to blame here :)
You might want to put those ripshifter stops back in, adjust them properly and loctite them before you end up damaging the gearbox...
