Nice work Damo! :goodjob:
Thanks for the kind works damo,,,,
wonks you know i got a lot of time for you but,,, my dyno or his dyno or her dyno has no impact on the maths or the facts that can be put to test-
about 8 months ago a customer which has become ours now came to us from a other shop making and showing me a dyno sheet for 255 rwkw (which was cool)
ve ss -l98 stock engine -had a 3 inch cat back and a otr and a tune- his best run or et was a 13.33-13.37 @105-106 mph
so we did the test before he gave us money for some headers and cats and a tune
i will also add that the tune we pulled out was very good and i got nothing bad to say about that shop........................
anyway-we put it on the dyno-2-4 runs and we had a base of 221,222,224,222 rwkw
cool-so we put in on the hoist to fit the headers and cats.....
then we rolled in on the dyno with just the headers and cats and no touching of the ecu/ecm it went 227/228/227/229 rwkw
then fish did a tune-played around here and there with the spark and fuel =236-239-238 rwkw and thats all we got out of it.........................
we done this on thur-customer picked it up sat arvo and the boys went to calder for fun and a bit of racing
the result was @12.75-.77 @109-110 mph
so basically he paid me to not make power but go 5 tenths quicker......................
why did his 255 rwkw not run that quick from the get go -i dont know or care
this whole dyno thing is to measure a gain on mods before and after and do drive a car with excessive speed in a control work place...................
he also went to a dyno comp and made 255 rwkw......................the funny thing with this dyno comp was the customers at that shop on that day were down 10-20 rwkw.......................go figure...........
as always wonks nothing against you just putting some facts and testing and proof that numbers are nothing without testing and no such thing as a low or high dyno as not every shop has the same equipment or tools or airflow in there cell or whatever..............
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Sorry Nick but I believe you've misinterpreted what I was getting at. I personally don't give a flying f**k about someone's dyno figures and as a mathematician I know that what matters is the percentage gain. I also believe that even runs on the quarter weeks apart don't necessarily mean a lot unless you know and take account of factors like weather conditions, tailwind vs headwind etc..
All I was trying to do without blowing smoke up your arse or Fishla's is point out to anyone who thought Damo's 280.8 rwkw figure was a bit low for all the work he had done and money he spent is that at most other places it would probably have been around the 310 mark i.e. it was a positive comment for your shop, not a negative as you seem to have interpreted it.
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
customer raced for 3 months straight at both calder and heathcote with a worst of 12.77 to 12.86 until he got sick of it- etc etc
i did not mis understand what you said-just pointing out you cant educate the internet-because before you told someone about my machine they had already made there mind on what they thought is a lower number without taking the gain in there thought process......this will always be the issue while we all have dynos...
see ya later
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Obviously I'm a dumb kent because I still don't get the point you're trying to make, so in future I won't read or comment on any of your customer's cars. If the point you're trying to bang into my thick skull is that you don't like me or others referring to your dyno as reading low then tell your customers not to do so too as I've heard some of them do the same. I also suspect nobody will believe that a full weight VE making less than 240rwkw could run the quarter in 12.7.
The only way we can sort of compare cars on an Australia wide forum is on dyno numbers, which anyone with half a brain knows can have all sorts of variations depending on many factors and the track which can also have many factors affecting times. I'm pretty sure most people use either or both if provided to gain an approximate comparison to either their car or cars they know. That's human nature and can't be avoided. Anyway, I'll stop taking Damo's thread off track now.
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Entertaining.
Anyway, the purpose of posting the dyno graph was to show the gain in torque and power right from the bottom end. This was meant to be the talking point.
So if anyone has comments on that, let me know! :)
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Nice gains buddy:goodjob:
How are you liking the stallie?
Any plans of taking it to the strip?
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
I'm getting used to the stall! You can definitely tell its there! If you keep the revs under 2300 it's all noise until you hit about 2500 and it just lets you have it!
It's great though, has that drag car feel about but is still extremely easy to drive at low speeds.
No plans to race it yet... But that may change...

Sounds great buddy, :goodjob:
what is it like on fuel?
Some of those cams deliver great power and still give great fuel economy.
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Well I haven't really driven all that much (300km in two weeks).
On the freeway I was getting 9L/100 and around town about 15L/100. Combined said 13.7L/100 at 58kmh average. For the power it makes and the lumpy idle, I think that's an awesome average. The freeway usage ha barely increased from what it was...
This cam seems to really deliver everything, torque across the board, power up top and decent fuel usage. And it sounds proper cammed on idle. I'm wrapped with it!

Great result mate:cheers:
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Good to see your happy with it mate, that's all that matters.
pisses me off how everyone sees a dyno print out and has to give there opinion on the output. I won't be putting up results on my new adventure just for that reason.
Anyway I'm keen as to know how your finding the stall, also if you can pm me the price and who you got it from please
Re: Damo's Series II Redline SSV (A6 Sedan)
Just post the dyno graph and photoshop the power output...
Yeah I'll let you know when I start driving it a bit more!

Update
Picked the car up from NJC Corp last night. All I can is wow. Nicks been slaving away perfecting the tune on the auto and the idle etc.
The idle is extremely choppy now! I let it sit in my drive way idling and I had around 5 neighbours and 5 of their friends come over to have a listen to the car. Two of them said exactly the same thing when they walked up "holy sh!t, it sounds like a rotary it's that lumpy!"...
It's certainly not quiet either. Nick reckons the idle is set around 830-850rpm. The hunting from the exhaust leak is completely gone. The car shakes like an old school muscle car which is cool!
Very nice to drive, bucket loads of power everywhere in the range - riding the middle band gets you to the speed limit in no time at all. Flat out its seriously fast.
Trans cooler has been installed with quick releases on the hoses for ease of fluid change. The difference between trans cooler on and off is 15 degrees so far - it was 100 degrees and now it sits around 85.
I'll get some photos of the cooler fitment and a new idle video shortly (the old video has nothing on what it sounds like now).

UPDATE
Just when I thought I was finished spending money on the car, a set of HSVi fluxus wheels popped up for a great price... So I've purchased those along with a set of Falken FK452s to wrap them in.
They are the normal silver colour - I will be taking them straight to Mansutti Brothers powder coating for a sandblast and powder coat job.
Now I'm struggling with colour choice. I'm leaning 60% toward gloss black, & 40% toward a dark gunmetal grey.

I'd go black but then I put black on all my cars haha
