Thanks very much for your comments HWDWTMTW!
I come from a background where I've always loved modified cars and have had a few over the years, especially when I was young. However, until my kids grew up and I was basically forced by my illness to sit down and spend more time researching I never had the money or knowledge to really indulge my passion as I have in the last few years. I just thank whichever gods led me to find this forum!!
As someone basically starting from scratch a few years ago in terms of knowledge about late model EFI V8s I'm more than happy to document my successes and failures for those going down a similar path in the hope that even a little of what I say is of use to them in some way. Fortunately there have been very few failures or things I would have done differently, hence the basic mods for the ute are exactly what I had on the sedan.
Chev and Big Rob and everyone associated there have been absolutely fantastic with all their help and assistance (plus most importantly - friendship) as has virtually everyone I've met through the forum, especially all the Bookclub guys who I am proud to count as my friends, plus guys like Mark (HSV-105) and even Markone2 who I've never met but helped me out in a time of need a couple of years ago when I needed a car. There have been others on here who have very kindly helped me out with other things too. :goodjob:
In fact this forum and the people I've met through it have been a sort of lifesaver for me and given me something to get involved in and passionate about again.
Speaking of HIDs as you did, Mark the auto elec next to Chev's installed my new low and high beam HIDs for me yesterday for a great price given how long the job took him while (for future reference) he worked out the best way to mount the ballasts out of sight (some brackets he fabricated) as he hadn't done a VE before. Before I started using Chev and before we moved I used to use an auto elec close to my old place.
Gerald has changed the brand of HIDs he sells so I'm very interested to try them out tonight - didn't get a chance last night.
Black Diamond (and his guys) has also been a great help with rims/tyres/lowering, as he is with all forum members.
Ah, OK thanks Jake. I was told if I wanted to change cam I'd need to probably change lifters too. I guess Swingtan would know for sure as he's just changed the cam in his VZ L76.
