Asking opinions on behalf of a friend but hes considering the above for his VE HSV GTS LS2. Which system would have the best overall tone/sound ,...
I had a full 3" KPM (non SLC - that's important!) on my cammed SSV ute and many people said it was the best VE they'd heard.
However, guy I know has a VF with a full DF 3" system and it also sounds awesome!
The two systems don't sound identical so it comes down to personal opinion and taste.
The only way to be sure is listen to and be driven in cars with each.
People used to criticise the DF systems for lack of ground clearance but my KPM was very well tucked up. I did read a post by someone whose opinion I trust saying there was no difference in depth between DF and KPM (Pacemaker) extractors so maybe the difference was in the rest of the system design esp the way the cats were done.
In that sense the KPM on the ute was much better than the original KPM 3" I'd had on my previous SSV sedan.
From my experience the KPM 3" system is very loud....
Bloody expensive too!!
I've got a KPM
but this is a good price

For the money KPM charge I would want more than a bit of bent steel hung onto the bottom of my car.
Dandenong Exhausts (DPE) I've heard do a good system in the 4wd circles so would be worth a look, they are priced ok.
Also CHE will ship Australia wide. Food for thought
I had full KPM 3" systems on my sedan and then ute for over 7 years and 120,000km or so and was never bothered by police, though I drive like a grandpa 98% of the time and don't go to known trouble spots doing laps! :lmao:
FWIW the VF Difilippo system I referred to above is at least as loud as the KPM system on the ute before it was cammed and the VF has a blower!
Pricewise KPM and DF much of a muchness.
Disagree Ash re KPM price - they're on a par with DF (DPE) systems (unless DF has reduced prices lately) so your comment about just a bit of bent steel applies equally. The KPM systems include HPC extractors and cats too, so more than just a bit of bent steel. My ute system was on for over 6 years and about 90,000km without a problem.
As I said to the OP, it really comes down to preference in sound.
I'm very happy with the HM on mine, very well made and sounds great - something to consider. I've got the full HM setup on my ute (1 7/8 headers, twin 3"). I think price wise they're not the cheapest but I think they're a bit cheaper than the DPE/KPM. Not sure on exact as I bought mine as part of a pack.
anything but xforce
I like manta but each to there own, really comes down to $$$
