Useful life of MT ET streets?
I use some MT ET Streets at the drags. The set i have are now a couple years old and i think they have lost their stickyness as i can feel a bit of wheelspin at times. I keep them off the ground and covered in the shed. I take it these tyres 'go off' after a certain amount of time correct?
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
Like any tyre they become harder then they should be over time. If you can feel them slipping more then they use to then get some new ones
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
ah damn. They arent cheap either :(
I think i read somewhere u can buy some sort of conditioner or rubber softener?? or is that bollocks?
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
Be sure to post up pics and videos of skids showing their final demise to please the masses who now get there kicks in a controlled environment :)
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
have you tried dropping tyre pressure more to reduce the wheelspin!!!different track conditions!!!! never tried this stuff dont know how much !! if it works etc only seen it for sale in my rocket catalogue!!!!cheers

Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
All my adventures into back to back 1.41’s and the mind numbing 1.3.9 sixty foot in a drive to the track white 6L Ute have been done on 2 year old MT DR’s…this coming weeks Sundays HSV Day will see those same MT DR’s , now 4 years of age chasing even lower numbers…keep you posted. ....as per normal exactly 22psi.

.
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
bring them back to life with a nice big burnout :burnout:
22psi? Really? What size?
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
21-22psi for me as well, 235/60/15
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
I run 16psi cold which is about 18psi hot on my 3 year old et streets which are worn well into the wear indicators , still doing a 1.5 60ft , work Ute

235 60 15's NA
275 60 15's N20
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
um ok, I'm running 275/60/15's but only at 15psi, most of the guys i've spoken to are around 16-17psi . . .
I'm guessing the most improvement is in the MPH? i'm already on the verge of going up in smoke off the line so i don't really wanna raise it
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
Any more details on the combo? Power, suspension, auto/manual, types of launches, track condition etc
Any idea why you're struggling for traction with higher pressures?

Car - LH Torana, Power - 560-580 at the crank, weighs 3140lb, suspension - standard shocks & lowered springs, powerglide, launch - off the transbrake @ 4000rpm (yep that's why, i know.)
Truth be told i haven't tried it at higher pressures but at willowbank i went up in smoke a couple of times and ran 1.43 to the 60 foot, Sydney ran a 1.40. I need as much give in the tyre as possible. And i'm running in APSA's X275 class, so going to a bigger tyre or a slick isn't an option.
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
Fairly decent combo :D
A full slick will be your best bet if you want to really get it moving. I'd look at borrowing a set just to see what it can do and then perservere with the radials to stay in the same class.
Not much you can do IMO, perhaps look at tweaking the suspension but if you really want give in the tyre to get the power down, then there's not a lot of options.
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
hey duncan not knowing the rules but are these new drag radials legal to use
http://www.dragzine.com/news/new-mic...-dot-approval/
just seen on a us forum john urist broke record with them yesterday 1.22 60 ft 4.67@161mph to the 1/8th and 7.09@201mph for the 1/4 on a 275/60/15 drag radial farkin insane!!! i know this doesn,t mean shit for cars at our level but still shows what can be done!!!! anyway cheers
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
yep i figured as much. And yes those new ET's look the goods, haven't seen any here yet. I've gotta put an anti-roll kit in mine yet to stop it twisting so much so that might give me a tiny little bit more bite.
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
ok duncan we know your 60ft but what does it run???
Re: Useful life of MT ET streets?
10.08 at 131MPH aspirated 406 chev. About to come apart, go back together with a tad more comp and make sure it's all good to handle 250hp hit of gas.
