Hi all,
A good friend has recently bought a 2010 Maloo which has a blue coloured set of extrators,looks like 3 inch polished finished pipes,big cats and the rear muffler boxes have Hurricane printed on them,twin rear mufflers with 2 outlets per muffler.
Anyway it has a horride cackle sound when he gives it the stick,was wondering of a muffler that sounds good?

I actually like the sound of x force sounds tuff a lot of people will tell you stay away from them though I have walkinshaw sounds sick
Try kpm,a lot of people with ve's with this system fitted rave on how good they are and sound.
I should add that I run a complete xforce exhaust system on my vz ss and love the sound.
Just throwing this out there but doesn't a crackle sound come from excess fuel igniting in the actual exhaust pipes?
Sounds like they are Pacemaker extractors.
Does it have a set of mufflers between the cats and rear mufflers?
Does it cackle when he accelerates or when he backs off?

no mufflers between cats and rear mufflers,and sounds crap accelerating,the higher the revs,the worse it gets.
Maybe when he gets the new exhaust, he should get a dyno tune by on of the sponsors and an OTR.
Try getting some hotdogs or centre mufflers welded in betweeen cats and rear mufflers, if he still not happy get a full catback of another brand. I dont like xforce but some do and they are cheap, some people think any noise coming from there car is good but im a bit fussier.

Try a h pipe, I got one fitted to my twin 3, and got rid of the raspiness, as well as giving the note I wanted
Sounds tune related.
At a guess I'd be looking to see if the cats have had the insides knocked out, from all VE I've heard they have a deeper note than the old gen3 5.7/6.0 whereas a mates sounds a lot more rasp with hollowed cats

I,m north of Tamworth,and we are issolated when it comes to people working on performance vehicles.I have a friend with a muffler shop in tamworth,he will be able to fit what is needed,I just know people on this forum have alot of experience, when it comes to these type of cars.
The cats look like after market,so maybe they are empty,my LS1 sounds deeper and much better,which does not make sence,his bigger engine should sound deeper than mine .

Which system do you prefer?as this guy works in the mines,so he wants the best i,m guessing.
I've got a dual 3" KPM. I get alot of comments on it but i'm not %100 happy with it, but for the price you pay for them i'm not about to start chopping it up just yet. Everyone likes different sounds and like the Mrs says i'll never be happy with it no matter what. I'd like to try a Difillipo on a VE as i had one on a VY & VZ and didnt mind it.
If price is not really an option and he wants the best possible sound tell him to contact Mark at Exhaust Technology (http://www.exhausttechnology.com/). He used to make the VE systems for KPM until they went to their SLC systems. I've had two of them, one on my SSV sedan and then having had that one I just had to have the same on my SSV ute. Many people have commented that it's the best sounding VE they've heard.
Sounds like he already has Pacemaker extractors (are they 4-1 I assume)? If he has any questions on the cats then also tell him to get some Ballistic 100cpsi Racing cats from Sureflo (forum sponsor) - inexpensive and very good!!

Be careful judging off a sound clip on a computer, i can pesonally tell you that not all 3" KPM exhausts will sound like that. I also have a pre SLC exhaust and mine is manual with a cam and sounds different to what i just heard in that clip.
Come to Brisbane and listen to mine. Streetfighter 2.5 system. I love it. If You like it I'll fit one up for you . Had a guy come up from Armidale a couple of months ago, he was very happy.

:yup: I know what you mean but it you want a sound most people love you typically have to pay. Other systems may be louder but the Exhaust Technology system sounds deep and refined. Similar to DiFillipo systems on pre VE - expensive yes, but the best sounding system for pre VE IMHO.Quote:
