GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
Word on the street is NO GTS for VF but only just a Limited Editon Car with an 'R' in it(sometime down the track.....& also new Motors VF HSV still wont be Blown.... they'll be saving that for the this 'other' thing.

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
pretty sure the VF will get the carry over LS3 then late next year the corvettes 6.2 litre direct injection LT1.

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
I have a deposit on a factory supercharged VF GTS in panorama silver. Sunroof, black leather and all the options including lightweight forged 20s.

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
No-doubt the HSV VF will get the LS3, amazing engine. With this new car that has people talking, a car with and "R" in it? could possibly be that Torana holden speculated overa few years back? Could be a Torana R (for Reborn). Who really knows what's going to happen. I have read in articles that what ever new car GM allows Holden to make would have to be something which could be sold international which backs up the Torana theory because it can be rebadged as a mid-sized performance Chevy in the states/middle east/UK (vauxhall)... I highly doubt that they'll decide to do a new large coupe because of the american market being saturated with large V8 Coupes already, as well as Australians not really wanting to buy Coupes over Utes (utes having the sportyness of 2 doors and a V8 with the the practicality of a tub). *2 cents*

Article about the Supercharged VF HSV. Still speculation but crazier dreams have come true.

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
I'm not convinced. They've gone and made the GTS a pretty mainstream vehicle, and it's a strong seller. I'd be very surprised if they changed their tactics so quickly
-
Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
They had their tactics changed for them Evan. Fpv anyone!
-
Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
I heard the other day HSV has a few mules running around with blown engines under the bonnet I also heard GTS as well. Person i was talking wouldn't let on more though.

Not sure what that has to do with the GTS badge. Ever since the E Series came out the GTS was just an up-spec Clubsport. Only fairly recently did they come out with the extra 10hp crap. For them to go and make the GTS an elite car again would just highlight they have no idea wtf they're doing. They had their chance a thousand times over with the big HP motors but they blew it with the W427. That should have been the equivalent of the 300kw pre-VE GTS, and it should have been sold for the same price, 100k.
HSV would be stupid not to have mules with blown motors in them. Holden has had diesel Commodore mules for years now, but I don't see any diesel Commodores anywhere

Will the LS3 get direct injection and AFM in the new HSV like the motor in the new Vette? 450bhp so about 330kw. An LSA GTS would have to be upwards of 350kw if this is the case, IMHO.

LSA has around 415KW.
Cheers, Pickles.

No because then it wouldn't be an ls3. It would be a lt1 that we aren't getting anytime soon
-
Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
My guess is that when VF comes out that HSV will get the new Direct Injected V8 and the VF SS will get a slightly detuned version of the current HSV engine.

I would like to see this as the GTS for me has certainly lost its appeal - hell, the retirees approaching 70 odd down the road have one??

& This is exactly the reason why HSV feel as though why they have to 'rest' the GTS name for a bit....Its NO longer seen as that 'King' status.. Hell of alot of Car..... But in Everyone's reach.... & regardless of what any salesman says... They are NOT selling... but if anyone thinks the'r going to get a new one in the 60's... the're kidding themselves... but would be a bloody good buy.
It all leads up.... Two styles of Clubsport & Maloo, standard & R8... R8 will be seen as the GTS for a while.... everything will just be spec'd up..... I mean, you can order factory 6 spotters for Maloo Now....... Everything will be an Extra for a few years...& No doubt an Expesnsive one........ Just Maybe those 25TH Ann. GTS aren't such a bad thing after all????

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
Regular production VF HSV's will continue with the 325KW LS3 for at least the first 12 months of its model life till the LT1 is ready.
There wont be a "GTS" till atleast late 2013, it will be a special run model and have the LSA. I don't believe it will return to being a regular model in the line up though but sold as a "special", read $$$.

415 in the Caddy, 432 in the Comaro. I think it would be upwards of 350 in a HSV, but wouldnt have thought they would go straight to 400+. Would like to be wrong though, i am due for a new car in November this year and would love a 400+ KW GTS :burnout:

Yeah, fair call. I assumed because it was still a 6.2 it was LS3, thought the Gen 5 was going to be 5.5.
Does the fact the first Gen 5 (LT1) is a 6.2 mean the specualation on the 5.5 was wrong, or will it be an iteration of the Gen 5 down the track?
-
Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
the 5.5 speculation was wrong. it was a guess based off the c6r race car. I cant imagine them using the LSA once the LT1 is out. why revert to old technology? the LT1 is the future, surely the GTS will just run an up-specced LT1

They WILL NOT bring out a new model with the same power as the old, just plain dumb!

I bet they do bring out the same spec motor. taking the LS3 above 325KW will steal the thunder from the 335KW LT1.
I wish it was more than 325KW, I'll be grabbing one of the first VF tourers as soon as they are out, would love more than 325KW though im going in with the info it will be the 325KW LS3 to avoid being disappointed.

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
Im over the VF and the fukn thing aint even out yet........
wish they'd stop fukn around and release the bloody thing already.... how long they wonna drag it out.

Looking at the US versions of the LS3, with the bi-modal exhaust it makes 325kw and 580nm, maybe the power will stay. They should now also remove the 350nm torque restriction on the driveline to enable the full torque available.

Excuse the noob question, but what exactly does that all mean?

the current gearbox is rated to 550nm of torque. that's why the LS3 in the HSV is rated at 550NM. they will have to update the gearbox for the LT1 as it has 600nm in standard guise

The VE has been torque restricted from factory to 550Nm to protect the 6-speed auto and maybe other things, however i believe they are meant to be improving the driveline to allow for more torque.
That is why the W427 was only available in the manual version.
I did a typo in the first one sorry meant to be 550Nm not 350Nm.
-

Cheers, thanks for that.
I assume when people get their cars modded for more power they remove this restriction?

I would say it would be tune based and a removable feature.

Re: GTS for VF???? Maybe not...
I keep on hearing the direct injection is actually a step back in terms of reliability. I've heard of all the Audi/VW people with Direct Injection have issues the heads needing a clean up every 10,000kms or something ridiculous to stay fresh, and apparently other manufacturers have that issue too.
Can anyone shine any light on that?

Also, the T56 was only rated for 550Nm. It could have been raised when they went to the T6060 partway through the E1 release
