So just speculation then! seriously these journos would give politicians a run for their money for being able to manipulate words.

Holden has confirmed it will sell a V8-powered sports car in Australia as Commodore production winds down in 2017.
Speaking at the 2015 Detroit motor show, the vice-president of General Motors’ Asian-based Consolidated International Operations, Stefan Jacoby, confirmed a high-performance model would step in once the V8-powered Commodores were discontinued in 2017.
that to me sounds pretty definite, but next paragraph, when asked if it would contain a v8 the answer was "most likely yes" that is a pretty fair answer to the questioned posed, but how does the interviewer get a definite yes from that? and they are only surmising that it will be a Camaro as the corvette is "too difficult" to convert.

Maybe it will be the mid engined Corvette Zora currently doing laps of the GM proving ground disguised as a Holden SS-V Ute... Fits the bill, V8, sports car. Sadly I can't really imagine it being the Zora over a Camaro.

Why?....because when it was engineered in Aus, it was also engineered for RHD,...GM can't possibly let Mustang have all the RHD sales, so,...I say it's coming.

Would be awesome if they do bring the Camaro! Would be sweet to have the Mustang and Camaro battle it out over here! Plus then we've got better handling V8 platforms to start from for the aftermarket mod scene. Exciting times!

That article is the biggest load of conjecture I have ever read. GM has made no statement in relation to wether the new gen camaro to be revealed this year will be available in RHD. If I had to put money on camaro or corvette coming here I would say camaro will be the one landing here. They will simply keep selling Commodores until closure and then switch to importing the camaro. Really though, I think everyone knows that something V8 will land here. They are the halo cars used to draw people into dealerships even if they don't generate the most sales for that model, they can generate sales of other models.

The Camaro is a 4(ish) seater, where the Vet is a dedicated 2 seater.
I prefer the Vet but the Camaro might be more practical seeing as we already have a 2 seater.
It's a nice idea, but I'll belive it when I see it.
Holden will be looking to import models at a price point that encourages volume. They need cars through dealerships for both sales and servicing. Look at the manufacturers who are kicking goals business-wise, and how they do things as a hint. The biggest problem GM has is that it's run by yanks, most of whom can't imagine a world beyond US shores. Building world cars (like Toyota, Hyundai and Mercedes, for example) is just not something they 'get'.
They'll give us a Chinese made front wheel drive and tune it locally, or we'll get a rebadged Euro. And neither will do any good. Australian's associate Holden with locally made vehicles.
This is good news for Chev fans in a round a bout way. If the V8 Mustang is going to be around $60k then hopefully GM will be pressured into bringing the Camaro in around the same numbers. $60k for a Camaro starts to look ok.

Pretty sharp pricing for the Mustang. $55k for V8 Manual Coupe in 2015, that's about $2k cheaper than what a V2S1 manual V8 Monaro went for when released in 2001.
I hope I can get an auto V8 Camaro convertible for a similar to Mustang price in 2018. That would be great. Have to wait and see.
