We've got our worst badges so now we should celebrate those that venture out onto our streets in their cool rides.

First cab off the ranks is this methanol slurping Hemi that scared the bejesus out of those on Chapel Street on a Sunday afternoon.

In my opinion I would much rather own a small block.
They are much cheaper to buy, much cheaper on fuel &
handle better because the big block is much heavier over the front end.

In this day & age they are all only just great looking cruisers anyway in the real world. :yup:

You would obviously know a lot more about Corvette's than me, but I've read a lot about the small block & how & why it's preferable to the big block etc, in many cars, not only the Corvette.
And what is said is probably true, but if I was going to own a Corvette of this vintage, I'd still want a big block,...if I could afford such!!
But it's not just Corvettes, ...Dodge Charger would have to be a 440, Mustang, I'd be looking for a 428 etc, and of course there are some where the 426 Hemi is an option but I haven't included this engine in view of the stratospheric prices such engined cars attract!!
And why do I prefer these big engined cars, I just think they're "special"!
I was reading just yesterday about a Yenko Camaro that had a 427 fitted, rated at 427HP, but in actual fact dynoed at well over 450HP,..I'd just love a car like that, and of course in the earlier Chevs, who can forget the legendary 409.

Ran out of time to amend so I'll just say that of course I'm not knocking the small block, which is probably the best, most popular, well used, most modified & well known V8 of all time.
So as far as big block's go, I guess I just think they've "got something", they're "special" etc.

In 1969 there was just two... ZL1 all Aluminium Corvette 427ci Big Blocks sold by the factory, the Base Corvette was listed at $4781.00

The ZL1 Aluminium BB was approx 150 Ibs / 68 kg lighter than a cast iron BB, and approx 25 Ibs /12 kg lighter than a cast iron SB.

The ZL1 option listed at a whopping...... $5257.15 on top of the Base Corvette price of $4781.00

So the list price of the 1969 ZL1 Corvette was...... $10,048.15

Yeah the early ZL1's were much better & lighter than the cast iron 454 truck motors that were optioned later.

I am not interested in drag racing mine, to me it is only a cruiser, they are an old car & don't handle all that well anyway.

I have my blown SS if I want to go a bit faster. :lol:
