HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
Just got my ute back home yesterday from G&D Performance in Vic,
Harrop HH122 Supercharger, Intercooler & 92mm TB.
G&D FI3 custom grind cam 232/242-117, Nice grunty idle now!
Crow cams Double valve springs, valve stem seals,
Double row timing chain, 50lb Rochester injectors, Fuel swirl pot,
Bosch 044 MS pump, Aeromotive Pressure reg and high pres lines.
Mafless 2bar Tune and thermostat mod.
End result was 345rwkw in 32 degree heat, not sure if the heat affects the dyno output or not but it was a hot day! The car is brilliant on the road.
The guys did an awsome job and i thank them very much cause i put them under the pump of 3 days, ended up being 4 but all is good thanks to Matt and the G&D team.
Will post more pics and vids 2morrow,
Cheers Trent.

Ditto to that Trent!!!
Can't wait to see this beast again!
At least this time you are going to beat my on the Dyno by a lot more than 0.2 of a rwkw!!
Looking great champ!
See you around soon.

Re: HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
Very nice. If you get keen, some incar footage of 1/2, 3/4 and WOT would be great to 'get and idea' of the ride.
-
Re: HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
Looks like a nice setup mate.
Just a little curious about the cam choice? Did you have it done at the same time or was it existing?
I would have expected a cam that large to make 310-320rwkw on its own. Just wondering what the restriction is as I would have thought a figure of 370-380rwkw closer to the mark with the setup you have.
Restrictive exhaust????
I'm not having a dig at the product or the install at all, just curious. I'm sure G&D will have the answer

Re: HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
Very nice setup, looks like you've done some smart mods to accompany it too

It drives awesome, it's pretty fast really knocks you back in the seat, first gear smokes the tyres instantly, shift to second and you can hold it at at any rev range smoking the tyres, haven't been game enough try any more than that.

The engine is standard apart from the cam, valve springs and t/chain.
It can be driven as a normal SS as before apart from the lump at idle, the cam has made it alot louder.

The cam was done last week same time as the Blower, the exhaust is 4 into 1 1&3/4" Pacmakers, 2.5" HF cats, Twin 2.5" mandrel Manta exhaust no res exits L/R, matt said the exhaust was fine.
When it was dynoed on the power runs it had been on the dyno for about 5 hours tuning in 32 degree heat, matt did say it could have a small effect on the final output, he also said they did a safe conservaitve tune as i live in tassie no one has the software or can tune these, so better safe than sorry i guess. He was also expecting between 350-360rwkw.
But it is an animal on the road, i'll probably have it dynoed again sometime this year at a dyno day.
Would of been nice to crack 350rwkw thats what i wanted but i'll just have to work on that, 345rwkw aint bad.
310-330rwkw is waht they have been roughly getting out of theses Harrop kits so the cam probably gives 20-30rwkw which seems to be the trend on most cars i've seen.
Cheers, Trent

are u serious?....holy crap, thats fantastic.

Re: HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
Don't knock 345rwkw (460rwhp) just because a cammed car can get 300 odd. It doesn't tell you what the torque is like at 2500rpm - my guess is it's amazing. Remember, the cammed car is revving its tits off to get that PEAK power...
-
Re: HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
What clutch are you running in this?

The tourque is unreal it just lifts of the line with mountains of wheelspin also. Accelerating at 100kph in 4th is better than what accelerating in 3rd at 100kph used to be.
I forgot to get all the dyno sheets, Matt is mailing them to me this week, and he is gonna try and work out the torque figure i'd say it's around 800-900Nm??? (flywheel)

Me, my brother, and old man put a new one in 2 months ago ready for it @ work, An Extreme, Heavy Duty, Cusion button with lightened chrome moly flywheel and VY slave.
I didn't mention in the specs it also has a flat bed K&N filter and HSV CAI which i'm replacing in a couple months with G&D's close airbox with CAI and pod.
Hope this small vid works,
The Ute at Idle.
Going out now to take a few more now.
Cheers

I'm pretty sure it's 8psi, you can get an underdrive pully to wind it to 10psi but voids harrop warranty, probably do that later down the track, for now i'm in love, and the missus is jealeaous! Na gotta thank her she's been pretty cool with it.

Yeah that was the old boy, he loves it had his first drive today, said he did his back in.
He also hinted there could be a HH122 finding its way onto his Coupe4 after warranty has expired!
Thanks for all your comments guys.

Re: HYPER8 - Harrop HH122 + Cam 600HP
Fantastic, great result. Congratulations. I'm very keen on the Harrop set up for my VXSS so this thread has been of great interest to me and will file this as a reference.
This thread has been one of the best, very informative, especially the vids. G&D has done a great job, a credit to them.
Mate, what effect has your mods had on fuel consumption? The reason I ask is if and when I'm ready I'll probably follow the same path as yours however will be a daily driver, city driving mostly. I'm not one to keep it a weekend warrior, and only when the weather's right like a couple of my mates, not that there's anything wrong with it. Love driving my car for whatever reason.
At the moment, I'm slowly (finance pending) building the car up to handle the power. It already has Harrop brakes, 3.9 diff, Textralia clutch t/f, there's more but this is your thread.
Your car looks pristine, very clean and simplistic, you've done well. I'm very curious about the mod you've done on the ' Custom Plastic welded front to suit VY Chev grille', looks great. How and who did this for you?
Once again congratualtions and enjoy (Lucky bugger!)

AJR-01, typical reports from customers state that fuel economy results have improved, you would be amazed at what can be achived power wise without adversly effecting your wallet at the bowser, 50% of it has to do with the combination and the other 50% the tune. One of our customers has a VX R8 we added our FI-1 camshaft and the Harrop 112 s/c it made very good power as can be imagined yet he states it gets way better ecomony than his stock standard VY SS work ute.
Your right in what you said about Trents ute, it is imaculate.
