    Re: New Torana

Not sure what the go is with the torana, i think its future is looking a little uncertain with talks of the camaro / holden VE coupe coming to town late in 09.

If the torana is released i highly doubt there will be perfomance versions such as the SLR, as holden already has that covered (or will do at the time)

They were saying however, that the torana is destined to be a 4 cylinder slug too take on the likes of Toyota etc..

I wouldnt hold your breath for a performance version though.

Dont be too surprised if the new Camaro in aus is called a Torana. You heard it here first and I hope my info is wrong. The naming idea is coming from the states and not from here, no Australian is that silly.

And people wonder why GM's global RWD program is in the crapper. I swear they deserve it for being so backward in their way of thinking. Keep churning out those SUVs lol.

I would prefer to have the Camaro called a Torana, than some plastic hatchback daewoo!

But there is absolutely no relevance to the Camaro with the Torana, that would just be STUPID! If they created a retro version Torana, like the Camaro, thats a whole different story!!!

    Re: New Torana

I think Holden could really do with a Torana type car. The Commodore is a great car but it's going to lose more sales as fuel prices rise further. A Torana could overcome that problem with size, and therefore weight reduction. The trump card it would have over the Camry, Accord, etc. would be RWD.
That's why it's concerning to read that the Alpha platform on which the Torana is based could be in trouble.
I wonder if Holden could just cut down the VE/Zeta platform?

    Re: New Torana

I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. They are indecisive about using the Zeta platform to replace the Impala and Lucerne. With the success of the new Malibu, I really doubt GM is trying to push hard for a global small RWD.

I wonder if GM actually realize Australians have access to the internet. We know the Camaro as the Camaro and the Torana as the Torana. My opinion is it would devalue the Torana badge to put it on a Camaro.
