You have said all this before but where are these photo's???
well..where to start.....
HSV........
has had my fascination for 20 years, snice the first HSV 'The Walkinshaw'
i remember reading about it in a magazine in the local newsagent...reading all the specs....
a freind was with me at the time....
i said i want 1 of them(HSV Group A)..
and he said u dream all the time...i was only about 16...
not long after i brought a poster of the Group A, it hung over my bed in my room for over 15years.
leaving school, working on cars as a job..by chance getting a Holden HQ SS at the age of 18, becoming a mechanic and finishing my time...still talking about this now rare group A....
still telling people..1 day ill have a HOLDEN HSV...the pride of the fleet and it will be as rare as the first Walkinshaw...
then carring out a total rebuild on the HQ....huge job too over 12months...what a project...and now very very rarely seen..
the new 2 door...i always looked a NEW monaro..or a HSV coupe..but at the time i had the chance to buy 1 i brought an investment property instead....
and in doing this lost the chance of having 1...love the look of them still do..
A move to Rottnest Island to live and work
1 night watching aussie top gear..saw the W427 test drive...
got me thinking...reseached the car heaps...how it was made...why it was built and it is the 20 year Evolution of the orginal HSV Group A....
i talked about it at work here on the island and as before...more people said...ya dreaming..
i was in Melbourne for the cup..and stummbled across a car show 1 saturday in Torquay water front.....
i said to the mate i was with...maybe 1 is ere....and yeps looked about Walkinshaws...
and holly s**t a red W427.....
spoke to the owner. he got it the day before...and that pretty much sold me
did the figues on getting 1...and where to store it..
ordered the car over the phone on dec 8th 2008
emails phone calls to the dealership as the car was getting bulit, and confirmed the build #61
car left the factory on 17th of dec 2008
just after the press release (16th dec) that only 200 will be bulit
car arrived at the dealership on jan 2nd
sat on the show room floor till thursday 8th, the only time i could get off the island i walked into the dealership..Shacks Holden in Fremantle
The W427 on the show room floor had sold sticker on it..the Walkinsaw ive always said and wanted to own...
man ...smiles...i tell ya the best buzz of my life...
after the hand shakes and photos...drove the car off the showroom floor...
drove it for 4 days andnow stored in the Whiteman Park Museum.
yeps...
took 20 years ....but i got 1...A HSV Walkinshaw..THE W427.
SmileS
