Ah no Gordie & once you find out how to do it - let me know
Blokes, I'm not sure if I'm uploading and posting images correctly, is the pic below loading?
Gordie.
Ah no Gordie & once you find out how to do it - let me know
Bugger, I can't figure it out?
It's hosted by my ISP and shows OK on my work and home computers, hummm?
Try this link to it Roger....
http://nz.msnusers.com/thewarden/Doc...2FDSC04094.JPG
Thanks
Gordie,
The URL in the post seems ok but I think it is not loading because your hosting website requires a password to log into. I tried cutting and pasting the URL -
http://nz.msnusers.com/thewarden/Doc...2FDSC04094.JPG
into a seperate window and it was redirected to a login screen, this will block the image from loading in the post.
Cheers,
Rod.
edit: your computers probably have a cookie on them from when you have logged on in the past so they get straight through.
Ah, good info Rod, any idea how I could change that?
Gordie
without sounding like a smartar$e, change hosts.
I have posted links successfully in the past from my ISP assigned webspace (Bigpond) , I think you will find a lot of free webspace places deny direct linking to images as it bypasses their advertisements, someone here may be able to suggest one that works.
are you putting the img in brackets then address then / img in brackets ?
LOL I tried to type it as it should be and it's looking for the image ...LOL.

You must be right Rod, I had a look in the "Manager Settings" and it shows Public, so anyone should be able to view my documents and pages. I'm on Xtra here in NZ, the webspace is in MSN Groups I think, if this means anything?????
Doesn't mean anything to me sorry, I have no experience with these guys as hosts so can't help. Wait a while, I'm sure someone will be able to point you to a free hosting website somewhere. I could post this pic for you now but in the long term you will probably want to have your own capability anyway.
SSJB: John, I used the IMG button on the forum's Post reply page, than pasted the address into the pop up box that appears and clicked OK, that part must be alright, as I can see the image (pic of a beautiful Racing Green Y series, as it happens) on my screen.
Rod: Thanks anyway for your help, yeah, the pic is just to figure out how to do it, rather than something that needed to be hosted by others.
Gordie
Hey Gordie I had trouble with this also
Address must be correct and the other thing I found was the photo name had to be identical but more importantly was how the name was written....no spaces
picture 1.jpg is no good rename it to picture1.jpg and then repost it on the hosting site.
see if that helps.
for example
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mcarfa/lambogirl.jpg
my pic was titled lambo girl before......
knowing my luck it won't work now......
or this one
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mcarfa/c...aftercrash.jpg
my wife was responsible for this write off........reverse parking can be difficult
Humm, thanks for that Doggy, nice pic of the girl BTW.
Ok, I've renamed the file, does this work?
We can only view images hosted on msnuser if we register - which most of us are not going to do.
There are other free hosting sites, although many try to block individual image hosting, requiring you to visit html pages so that they can serve ads. Most ISP's give you a small amount of space you can use, or you can find some very cheap US based hosting for as little as $5US a month + a domain name.
You can host pictures at www.picturetrail.com , free for the first month , then $19.95 US for 12 months if you want to keep it going
when you've put you're image URL in click "preveiw post "at the bottom of the screen before you submit your post, if you've done it right you will see you're pics !!
Cheers
John
