    Re: 410ci L98 Boost Build

I raced the car with this motor in at racewars recently in my vy ute, it made around 460rwhp but it looks like the valve springs need to be replaced as it falls over after 6k rpm. so the motor is getting pulled out next week and i will have the cam/springs changed to suit some high rpm. it then go into my new drag car im building.

Still managed to beat a stock motor c6 corvette and a few other cars over the course of the weekend and did the standing 1km in 23 seconds.

    Re: 410ci L98 Boost Build

    Thread dig.

Not much has happened with this motor since i built it apart from using it in my ute for racewars in 2013. It has however found a home in my new drag car that i've been building for the last 12 months ever so slowly.

I'm hoping to have it down the strip within the next 2 months as it just needs some finishing work on the exhaust and a couple of water tanks made up.

It has a couple of T76 sized turbo's & uses a VE Radiator & Treadstone intercooler.

    Re: 410ci L98 Boost Build

    Thread Update.

took my drag car down to whoop ass Wednesday this week, was a late arvo decision as i thought it be rained out. Turned out pretty good with only about 28 cars in total but there was a couple of cars that blew up and oil'd down the track.

we left 19psi in the rear slicks as I just wanted to get some km's on the car/motor to dial in the tune, No hard launches etc.

1st run = 14 @ 98mph - Made sure the brakes would work and the driveline was all good
2nd run = 12.1 @ 120mph - boost control wasn't working, hit timing cut when it hit 14psi. throttle'd out before half track
3rd run = 10.3 @ 125mph - The only update to the tune was after this run and that was to add another 2 degree's of timing (was probably pointless at this stage but meh, total advance = 12 degrees)
4th run = 10.1 @ 138mph - gave it some more throttle, shifted from 2nd to 3rd way to early. It has a 5500 convertor so revs stayed up. high 1.7 - 60 foot.

have a few things left to sort out before I get it all tech inspected, but with it's current progress it looks like my hopes of running some sub 9.5's could be on the cards.

highest throttle position i went was 73% max boost 10.1psi and still very low timing. this car is going to be scary quick.

might need to adjust seat position as i thought i was pushing the pedal all the way.

    Re: 410ci L98 Boost Build

results from holden vs ford meet tonight. only got 2 runs in but new pb's again.

    9.64 @ 143mph
    9.510 @ 145mph

same boost as before of around 11psi, need to take a look at throttle cable as im still only getting a max of 82% when the pedal is on the floor. TB was checked and it's not opening all the way.

    Re: 410ci L98 Boost Build

I will when I actually get it weighed. I reckon it'll still come in around the 1650kg mark & 700rwhp Power wise. its not been on the dyno and probably never will with the 5500 stall in it.

my dad's drag car does weigh a little more than mine and im pretty sure his was in the 1700's. power wise his made in the mid 500 mark but it just destroys tyres on the dyno and we've gone from 138-145mph so far by bumping up the timing on the track.

    Re: 410ci L98 Boost Build

so small update after a long time. I did get the car weighed one night and it was 1550kg with me in it. I was around 120kg at the time. I'm now 105kg.

Anyway with the old converter the best i could get out of it was 9.4 something @ 233kph like above. I ended up ordering 2 new converters from circle'd in the states, both around the 3500rpm mark, 1 to suit transbrake the other for stalling on foot brake.

raced it last night and straight off the trailer it went 9.214 @ 242kph (150mph) on the foot brake still.

Unfortunately it broke a stub axle coming out of the burnout box for my 2nd run, so that was all i could do last night.

Great time, well done! Think I saw a thread a while ago where you bought a ve ute with a 2300 on it, anything happening with it?
