    Leather Retrim thread

I know they have been done in the past but the last ones didnt give me an exact answer so i thought Id start a new one

    Looking at 2 options here,

    1. Get my 2 front seats trimmed in leather or
    2. I can purchase genuine factory leather skins and have them fitted by someone skilled.

I think its hard to fit for me as Ive never done anything like that.

Anyone have any opinions or contacts at trimmers that can give me quotes on both options. Happy to pay cash or if someone here can do them.
Car is a vz ss ute currently has cloth seats (dont know why, i think someone has swapped out the orange leather)

If your ute has climate control it should have had leather. If just standard air cond then cloth. My understanding is that there are heaps of much better leathers out there than the factory stuff (which I've often seen described as crap). Blackman's have (or last time I looked into it did have) a very good name for leather upgrades and I know many dealers, including some more upmarket makes, use them.

I am in the same position myself, with trying to decide where to go for a re-trim. There is a mob on ebay that do custom upholstering at pretty cheap prices. They use "rebonded automotive leather" I have been trying to find out what it looks/feels like, but nobody I know has ever seen or heard of it. Anyone here know of it and if it is any good?

If its cheap, its probably shiat. Early models isnt too bad for leather, but that plastic leatherette crap that put on VEs is shocking

Along the lines of this, the HSV logos on my front seats is a bit tacky (VZ). Can just the leather where the logo is be replaced??

I'm in Brisbane. Also looking into getting drivers seat re done. Few wear marks. But I don't know if I should get both front redone. So they match. Or just drivers.

I was wondering if there is a video tutorial on how to strip the cloth on the seat to the foams, that would help me decide if I can do it myself

    Re: Leather Retrim thread

I went to blackmans, looks like option 2, provide the leather skins and he will fit it for $160. Not bad, otherwise he quoted $1600 to retrim front seats in his leather. I know holden leather aint that great but no way am I paying $1600 to get some cow on the seats. Thanks for the replies, you can close thread.

Unless you can get them for next to nothing I wouldn't bother - far better leather is available.

yeah it is proseat, what kind of reports have you heard? Considering the quality of the product? Or the fitting?

I am considering getting a set of coulsens from them along with a full re-trim in Italian Leather for my WH.

Nobody I know has ever used them, so input would be much appreciated?
