hi fellow ls1 fans thinking of putting on aftermarket fuel rails and just wondering if you need a fuel reg kit as well to regulate the amount of fuel that goes in the motor.

Assuming its a Commodore the reg is in the fuel tank mate. The thing on the fuel rails you see is a fuel dampner. It was removed on later models. So no

    Re: aftermarket fuel rails ???

Yeah so its pretty mild and running stock fuel system with dead head setup so as above no need for reg......why do you want to change rails? What are your planned future mods?

First thing I'd be looking at before worrying about bling bits like rails is fitting an ls6 manifold seing as you have a vt engine.

Not that rails do anything but the ls6 manifold is hardly leaps and bounds ahead, if he goes forced induction its not worth doing at all really.

Ls2 manifolds make 10+kw on stockish tuned motors, from memory all vx hsv and all vx non hsv series 2 onwards ran them but I'm probably wrong , also I think vy series 2 went to a slightly higher tension ring set meaning less slap and oil use at at a trade off slight fuel increase and power loss which is never noticed of course because series 2 vys had a slightly better timing map...... With that said I've never checked ring sets from motor to motor, other running changes occurred too like sump baffle changes, AIT placement etc.... Again Knowing what your plans are will help you save money, no point buying stuff you don't need.

Confess they do look pretty, but never yet found any real use for them myself..being more bang for buck motivated

What are you planning do do with this car when built ??? , are you aware a well set up cam only is going to be more than capable of blowing the doors off the above setup for 1/4 mile work ...best do some serious research within the forum imho...truly time well spent within, will save you thousands of wasted dollars ...just the mention of YT rockers is going to give me a sleepless night .....Research..Research imho

On a stocker your not far off. Start to play in the modified world and the gains are there. Every little bit helps even if it's only half a dozen kw.. Sure as hell beats fitting a useless set of fuel rails. I'm with mark on this one, no bang for buck so it is purely a bling thing. Better off with a nice set of covers IMO.

    Re: aftermarket fuel rails ???

I agree 100% fuel rails is wasted money id rather buy 2 slabs of bourbon but with that said if his ultimate goal is FI the manifold is less important...then again i guess these days the ls6 is probably worth less than rails....but as youve picked up based on his wish list i dont think he is sure of what he wants to achieve yet, to me it seems more guess work based on something he read.
