This time for a gearbox rebuild, doing as much as the budget will allow to the box in preparation for the supercharger down the track. Also getting small convertor to try and get it off the line a bit quicker, a trans cooler and a modified gearbox cross member to allow greater clearance for the exhaust, so I can finally put a proper system on it.

    Stay tuned.

Righto.. Big weekend, but the car has been delivered.

Left Adelaide 7pm Friday night, Then drove to Kaniva to see a mate, then swag on the side of the road for the night. %am, back on the road to collect another set of Avalanche brakes in Ballarat at 8:30am. 6 degrees and an icy cold wind. Couldnt wait to be outa there, So back into it again and pick up some more goodies. Made it into Melbourne just before 11am. Had to wake the young fella I was getting the stuff from. The youth of today eh?? Then made it out to IJ's by 12:30pm. Did a quick unload of all my shit and we piled back in the car and into town for a feed. Then back down the freeway and he dumped me at the airport for the flight home. Few pints at the airport made for a much more exciting flight. And landed back in Adelaide at 7pm. So only gone for 24 hours.

We have a few specialty bits inbound from the US. So hopefully should be all done n dusted within 2 weeks, and I will fly back and drive her home.

Bit of a hold up getting some specialised parts out of the US. But they are inbound now. So we will see some action as soon as they arrive.

Wow.. How time flies. Been a while since I have been in here to update this thread.

IJ rebuilt the gearbox and installed a small B&M Stall. Nothing radical, just enough to keep its street manners and get it off the line a bit quicker.
Got a big trans cooler fitted to make sure the temp stays where it needs to be too.

But this car just continues to impress. Drove it to Tassie for the recent Monaro Nationals. Towing a camper all the way.

On the trip from Adelaide to Melbourne the newly installed trans cooler pipe rubbed on the engine fan until it burst, spraying fluid all over the engine, and making huge amounts of smoke. Looked like it was on fire. Pulled up, shut it down and bailed the family out to the side of the road. Took me a while to work out what had happened, and then a bit longer to work out how to Mcgyver a fix. Ended up ripping the gas line out of the camper cutting a length of that, then cutting the trans pipe with the hole, shoving in the chunk of copper pipe and using some not so critical hose clamps in the engine bay to secure it all. Worked a treat, was able to get the 30k's into the next town where I topped up the trans fluid and replaced the robbed hose clamps. Fun times. Got us into Ballarat 4 hours late, but we made it.

Anyways.. Long story short, we took 2 weeks to cut a lap of tassie, What a blast, towing the camper round those tassie roads like it wasnt even there.

Then it came time for the Nats, now she is no show pony, but I spent a few $$ at the local detailer and he made her look a million $$. DIdnt win anything at the show, but the next day at the driving event at Symonds Plains.. Man what a blast. Got to do laps of the circuit 20 cars at a time, It was OK, but a bit boring, limited to 100kph. The hair pin, the organiser said that anything over 40kph in a street car will have you spearing off into the armco. The Allpaw CV8 was more than happy taking it at 65. Traction is where it is at.

BUT.. They also had a motorkhana set up out the back. This is where it came into its own. No one could get within 2 secs of it. The poor thing squealed like a bitch for the entire run, with massive understeer issues. But it was still damn fast.
So she took home the the most consistent V2, AND>.. Get this King of the Plains for the outright fastest time. Absolutely stoked. King of the Hill at the 2014 SA Monaro Nationals and King of the Plains at the 2018 Tasmania Monaro Nationals.. Over the Moon.

Bit of work to do on it before the next adventure. Front lower control arm bushes are totalled, these need to be changed, the front drive shafts have a split boot, so might bang a new set of shafts in while the bushes are being done. Oh and the damn roof lining is starting to sag, so that needs to come out and be replaced.
