    Project Blown SS Refresh

Got the ok from the owner to run a mini build thread on this, it's a VY SS Wagon with a 1900 Harrop blower, it's in need of a bit of a tidy up as it's getting on a bit mechanically KM wise, rest of the car is one of the nicest I've seen/driven it's mint and his "baby".

200k's on the car. How many since the blower install??

Just to spice things up a bit. Drop an AWD conversion in it while you are there. You are half way there anyway!!

G'day mate, blower (pretty much went straight to 9 - 10psi), springs, injectors/walbro, and first A4 'build' were done at about 142,000km's

(diff rebuild was in there too somewhere).

Cam (Clive 'blower friendly') push rods and second A4 build (needed after a 4-2 kick down at about 100kmph) was done at about 160,00km's

3-4 clutch pack done again at about 185,000km's (i'd need to check my receipts though to be sure of dates/km's.)

As some may know this has been my daily (Belgrave to Port Melbourne) and general fishing and family car since I got it in 2004 (has done many interstate fishing/visiting trips and more home-city-home runs than I can count) - so, although she's been well looked after and generally driven like a nanna (have been called out a few times @ Chev's for not blowing out the 'granny 'dust often enough ..... hahahaha), it has copped a bit of a wolloping on the odd occasion (have been partial over the journey to give her a good squirt from standing, when the occasion arises ... try to avoid the running kick downs now though....). Never been a limiter rider and never (intentionally) laid black marks (tyres are too nice to waste) so I am quietly hopeful that she should be in fairly good internal nick (we will soon see).

*sigh* - If life had gone in a slightly different direction over the past 12 months, this is exactly what would be happening now ....... Unfortunately the CX8 I currently have needs to be on sold to re coupe some funds for the minister..... the original plan was to use the CX8 for exactly this purpose, but I can't complain (as we have a beautiful little baby girl instead).

Gota be honest, i'm just a wee bit excited as the old girl has sat in the car port for the last 7 months collecting dust and it was slowly killing me ........... Hahahaha; Now that she's with the bullet train, I get the feeling this is going to happen quickly ......... *wink*

Good luck with the build Carlton, she should be good as new in no time. Congratulations on the baby girl too.
Hey, what brakes are you running now? Did you do a second upgrade?

G'day David, thanks mate; Yeah, got me some 6 pot AP's under 18" SS rims (BIIIIIG rotors with stuff all room/clearance - but they work a treat and look sweet!!!); Was able to move the PBR gear on without too much hassle as well (in hindsight should have kept them and 17" rims/tyres as they would have gone a treat on the CX8).

    Cheers,

    Carlton
