Welcome & Congrats on your LS3! Vf2 is a very nice vehicle indeed. When you get your count up post some pics of it.
Hello LS1 Forum!
It's been a number of years since I have been on the forum as there wasn't a huge need to get information on V8 Commodores after I traded my VE SSV Ute in on a Captiva 7 CV ........
But on Saturday I put down a deposit on a brand new Nitrate Silver 2016 SSV Redline. I can say I am thoroughly impressed - it's an understatement to say how much better a car I feel the VF II is over my VE.
I was completely surprised at the sound that comes from the Bi-modal exhaust - this is my 7th V8 Holden and the need to change the exhaust out straight away is definitely not there and all I can say is about time as I think it sounds very sweet from the factory! Now let's not confuse this with wants though.
I was fortunate enough to pick it up with a 5yr warranty for some extra piece of mind - it only has a 100kms on it and I cannot wait to get it this week and take it for a spin. I think a trip up the Kuranda Range it on the cards to test it out.
I have not serious plans for it at this stage other than checking off buying one of the last Australian made cars since - I do want to put the Android module from ICE in so that I can use Dashcommand as gauges/information is something I like to have.
I am looking forward to some good time back on the forum again.
Chris

Great Cars the VFII Redline, once You pick it up pull the 20a exhaust fuse as it will leave bi modal open Got one for My Wife a few weeks ago after getting Myself a GenF2 GTS which made her decide She no longer wanted Her Prado & needed another V8 Both ours are Nitrate aswell
That fuse is pulled already and the Redline is still sitting in the garage with less than 500kms on it (thumbs up!).
Now I am tempted by the Alpine X901D-VF...
Lotta $$$ though, the Mylink in my VF2 SSV works exceptionally well zero issues.
Thanks Mike
Well, it's been a while but I thought I would give an update on the X901D-VF that I was thinking of getting.
Now that Aerpro has released it's facia kit for the VF I thought I could finally update the head unit. One issue that I had was that any of the 7" double DIN units really looked like it leant way to far back for my liking - that's when I saw the Alpine Halo 9 iLX-F309.
I installed it on last Thursday as Autobarn has it on sale at the moment and I have to say I am fairly impressed with the upgrade.
I have a couple of comments on the experience so far:
I'd highly recommend that you either get a single din unit with a 7" or greater display so that you don't clash with the main wiring loom during installation. Like all of these replacements with plug and play connectors there's a lot of cabling to deal with - any extra space is always helpful IMHO.
You will lose the repeated information from the unit that is visible in the HUD (and dash?) such as track/station AND the speed limits in vehicles fitted with Navigation.
Reverse camera lines are a problem - the vehicle settings are accessed by holding down the Source button for two seconds. What this does is tell the head unit that you're in 'reverse' and the Connects2 GMLAN reader switches it's display to be visible instead of the camera. When this happens you have reverse camera lines over the display as it's provide by the Head Unit. It's removable on the head unit of course but I am still looking into working around that slight annoyance.
That's probably it for now - feel free to ask me any questions.

It looks like you took a photo of your black car taken at night without a flash...
Android Auto and Carplay can be flashed into the VFII factory system, can I ask why you went the aftermarket option?
Do you mean the option sold by Naviplus which switches out the Mylink and uses the factory display?
One of the other reasons why was I was never impressed with the Bose stereo. I'm no Audiophile (maybe that would of helped?) but it never sounded great to me and the car certainly sounds better now.
Keen to know more about your install, did you use the Aerpro kit?
What’s it look like around the display?
Hard to tell in your video what the install looks like.
