Did somebody say "Disney Dyno"?
No names please if you recognise the person in question!
There's a certain individual on Facebook (where else?) who seems to want to come across as a force in the HSV scene (particularly VEs of which at one time they had 3, now just 2).
Annoyingly they keep posting about people mocking their power figure as impossible given the mods on the GTS. 380kW! Sounds impressive eh? Especially for basically bolt on! Wow! If also changes from time to time eg. the most recent one is only 335kw.
How do I know the graph is only fwkw? Note at the top left corner where I've (very amateurishly) tried to underline S_kW? That means shaft (crankshaft) kW.
Seems they somehow talk the shop into doing their dyno sheet as fwkw. WTF? Extrapolating fwkw from rwkw is at best an inexact magic, but working backwards their actual rwkw EVEN for 380kW is probably only between 275 and 285rwkw depending on M6 or A6. Good enough for at best a low 13 or high 12 400m time at best.
335fwkw is SFA more than stock for an E2 GTS yet this same person claims to have dragged off all sorts of rapid cars on the streets! Probably glanced over to see who was revving their GTS wanting a drag, laughed and took off normally. I won! I won! Another kill!
Back to my question - does anybody know of a shop which does fwkw dyno sheets as standard? I suspect this deluded individual has specifically requested it to brag about their IMMENSE power to their numpty friends.
Any long timers on here know I try to help people where I feel I can and as such have tried numerous times over the years to help this person with their various issues over the years (always whinging about poor service from anywhere/everywhere) but they don't seem to want to know......
Bragging is everything!! LOL

I know they have a reputation for happy dyno but why do a fwkw dyno?
I wonder if they got a free Christmas special?
Well its not me
I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive
Wonks,
Are the dyno graphs from the same mob? or multiple shops?
I'm not a hoon, I'm just competitive
I have no interest in fwkw, unless it bolted into an engine dyno perhaps.
I actually had a bit of an argument with another guy a while back who was telling me
that his turbo engined made more power than my supercharged engine.
They had both been done on the same dyno by the same tuner on different days
but his rwkw number was about 10rwkw higher than mine.
What he did not get was that my rwkw dyno figures read much lower than his
due to the fact that mine is automatic & his is 6 speed manual.
Perhaps if they all did fwkw dyno readings it would make things fairer and more simple for some to understand.
With manuals it will always be higher & which gear the tuner uses. Normally 4th gear 1:1
Not to mention the losses through an auto box though negligible.
The same shop, but as far as I'm aware this shop usually does the same rwkw dyno graphs as everyone.
Hence my suspicion that the numpty in question has specifically asked for, or possibly even demanded, fwkw graphs given their lack of REAL car knowledge, to impress other numpties with NFI.
I don't know if a chassis dyno could even calculate FWKW. and I don't know why you would even bother as it is irrelavent unless its strapped to an engine dyno.
Its hard to decipher the pretty graph as it provides no details on what mode the car was run up at ie shootout 81 and the ramp rate.
I have personally seen a dyno figure jump 25rwkw with out making any ecu changes but instead changing the mode that the dyno is being run in and also where the intake temp probe is placed in the engine bay. Nothing like an intake air probe sitting on a hot header to make some free power.
Both of which I have witnessed from the same shop
