    Re: 2002 GTO driving lamps

So, at great lengths, I managed to find some lamps from a seller in the UK.

They have exactly the same shape and size of glass lense as the factory GTO lamps but are quite different in overall length and size at the rear.

They only have two mounting holes in the same place as the upper mounting holes as the original lamps.

The opening in the bumper for the wiring for the lamps to go through needs opening up more for the new lamp to go through.

    HOWEVER.

While I was looking for a tool to enlarge the opening in the bumper for the lamp to fit properly, I found something on a shelf wrapped in bubble wrap - which has been there for a LONG time.

I opened it and OMG, it was a brand new Narva lamp for a VX GTO

It took a bit to remember, and its still fuzzy but years ago the missus run up the rear of a car which did a bit of "cosmetic damage" to the GTO and I think one lamp was smashed but the lamps came as a pair so this was stuck on the shelf.

So, I've refitted the old L/H lamp and fitted the new R/H lamp and wiped the egg off my face too.

The other bonus is I also purchased a couple of plastic covers from the UK seller that, with a bit of persuasion, push onto the lamps to protect them from any future stone damage.

We will keep the other lamps in case of a fender bender BUT if trying to locate genuine lamps are a problem now, what will happen in the future when looking for a bumper?

I would say they will have to be made of fibreglass which looks terrible as it doesnt hold its shape at all.

The seller in the UK is ELISEPARTS.COM and their contact details are ( sales@eliseparts.com ).

Cost is cheap and shipping is good too.

    Best of luck all.
    Mark.
