Talking Finally went down the 1/4

Well.............finally threw the car down the 1/4 tonight and also ran(not literally) into a WA member VU SS 50. Small world!!

Anyway, I was a tad nervous, but had a ball

Times were not very good, pretty hot tonight and VU SS 50 reckons the strip is fairly ordinary, traction problems!! So I'm using all of the above for me excuse....and stickin' too 'em

    First run.......traction control left on
    reaction 1.319
    60 ft 2.462
    ET 14.872
    mph 98.03

Things didn't improve much from there until my last (5th) run.
    reaction .8457
    60 ft 2.411
    ET 14.563
    mph 100.44

Had all sorts of dramas getting traction (except the first run)

Anyway, as the saying goes, practise makes perfect.

Gonna try again after nme edit, see how I go.

Feel free to offer any pointers fellas.

    Hi YIIR8,

    Do you have a manual?
I'm only asking cause I had my first run (only got 1 run in then the rain came) last month and have an auto, so just interested to compare times.

    R/T---------0.509
    60'---------2.274
    330'---------6.274
    660'---------9.493
    mph---------77.27
    1000'---------12.218

    ET---------14.537
    mph---------96.68
    kph---------155.59

Practise makes perfect Darryl. My first time out in the Exec included a 15-something (missed shifts and bugger all traction) and I've seen some worse ones than that. I can't wait to see what happens after you "edit" those times.

Yeah, I know, that pun was weak as....

hmm, even if u were having traction problems at launch, those MPH figures seem a tad low considering u have 285kws?

    I managed 14.6@99MPH with a stock 225kw monaro.

    Edit: Manual

Yep, practice. I ran a 14.3 with air and traction control switched on for my first run then a 15.88 with lots of wheel spin on my first night. (At least I didn’t change into reverse on my first few runs like someone who will remain forever GUV)

I've since ran a few 14.10 to 14.06 and one 13.98 with no car changes, just a bit more practice. The launch is the hardest to get right in a manual.
Keep up the good work, see you Monday at Mark's.

are these cars auto or manual guys??

My Senator pulled a 14.4 @ 98.25 mph on my first attempt and ran around that time all day (20+ runs)

The car is a HSV stroker engine (5.0 based motor) with stock 3.07 diff and stock automatic, 4177 pound race weight.

Similar track conditions on the day according to those that know what they were talking about, ie crap!!!!

Mine is a totally stock SS auto but it was my very first time at the drags and I only got one run due to rain so I think I should be able to get the time down a bit. I didn't have the auto in power mode or anything just economy and drive. I also didn't stall it up at all just sat and floored it when the lights changed.

You have some work to do eh! We got a dead stock dealer demo YII Clubbie (M6), gave it an edit, nothing else, stock exhaust, stock everything (800km on the clock), and it ran -

    60ft: 2.105
    ET: 13.51
    MPH: 106.2

That was with the dealer driving it who had never been to the strip before

What sort of power was it making before and after the edit?

Just come along to Mark’s on Monday, I’m sure Darryl will give you his 285kw HSV tune after Mark removes it from his car.

He won’t need it any more.
