VY V6 to V8 Conversion

Does anyone have any information or knowledge on a change of power plants from a V6 & auto to Gen3 & auto in a VY sedan?

Is the wiring harness the same?

If I use the Gen3 computer will it be a simple plug and play change over?

Any information will be helpful.

although alot of ppl will say just go buy a ls1 powered VY it can be done if you shop hard and take your time buying the items required to carry out the conversion


Eg it would make sence to buy a complete damaged gen 3 vehicle .At pickles last week a white VT SS series 2 hit at the front sold for $2200 dollars.(now this is a rarelity not the norm) but this would be a better way to carry out your conversion

then selling off what you dont need. but to work out wat its going to cost you take a figure that you think its going to cost you and then double it..

Make sure the donor vehicle is same age or newer or you wont get it registered, it must comply with a.d.r's from your model or if engine newer it must comply with a.d.r from that model...Department of transport will be able to tell age by engine number

Heaps of threads on this. Budget for $15k+ if doing a lot of the work yourself or $20+ if a workshop does it.

Well VooDoo from what I am reading mate I might be better off just trading in my VY's on SS or Clubie there are a few good second ones around at the right price.

Any want to buy a VY' s lol!
