Smile New VE - Noise in Rear Suspension - Solution!!

Reading on forum people complaining of noise or thud in rear suspension when going over little bumps.

Had the VE GTS serviced today and was told by dealer they had retrofit washers to fit to rear suspension that would eliminate the problem/noise from rear when driving.

Just thought you all would be keen to hear this and follow-up with your cars

    Happy Driving

    Tully

There is a bulletin for dealers on this very issue. It applies to MRC models only. It replaces a lower washer with a modified design on each rear damper.

It also states that it does not apply to regular models, and to make sure that any noises are from that area, not just noises caused by the mega sized wheels and tyres (in combination with a firm suspension)

Yeah ive got the "thud', but I must say its a lot better since I had the exhaust changed? But there is still something definately NQR. I can live
with it for the time being.

Re: New VE - Noise in Rear Suspension - Solution!!

    ...interesting topic

I just picked up and brought back to work...a brand new (has17km on it)
Omega V sedan (for one of the sales reps)
    and
yeah....its got this 'thud' or thump from the rear in it over small bumps
    which
also happens to get louder over railway lines

just placed a call into the dealers service manager on this

but its a strange noise, as though the shocker is stuck..and then releases
    or a bush thats sticky...

    cheers

Re: New VE - Noise in Rear Suspension - Solution!!

Interesting... I wonder if they will ever find a fix for the thump from the front suspension.. My suspension has been tightened up on its first service and again when I came back for a replacement steel strip under the instrument cluster... But they cant fault it... But I hear a clunk/thump sound on some bumps on town roads....

Let's not confuse the fact that "some" suspension noise is "normal" on any car. The firmer the suspension and the lower profile the tyres, the more you can expect to hear/feel.

    Hi David,

Is there a detailed list of the VE service bulletins available for public reading? or at lease a list of the titles - so we know what to ask for?

I for one have lots of "little issues'" that I couldn't be bothered explaining and just getting a blank face back on, but if I knew there was a bulletin on that area/topic - I would confidentally chase it up, in the hope that its just not mty imagination or fussyness.

Re: New VE - Noise in Rear Suspension - Solution!!

I had a similar problem with a noise in the rear shocks of my VY Senator, and after 3 trips to the dealer to complain they tried to blame my exhaust system. I eventually gave up and fitted Konis which fixed the problem instantly
A grumpy old bugga who has been there and done that...

Has anyone asked Street Tuna if this occurs with his new Coil Over setup?? May, or may not, be some form of solution for the issue?????

ATM mine does bang/thump heavily on sharp bumps (mainly at front)

Re: New VE - Noise in Rear Suspension - Solution!!

Well I've had a rear shock replaced, suspension tightened, and it's still there
over sharp bumps for sure. Almost sounds like something bumping in the
boot.. The dealer reckons the have a machine that can replicate these things
in their workshop and stated they could not fault. So if there is something on
their service bulletin it would certainly help I guess.
