I did the same thing - drove a couple of VE's and absolutely preferred the VZ, plus it left some money over for mods

Previous car was an 05 vz clubsport r8 auto. I only kept it for 6 months because i really wanted a manual. As for the ve clubsport i just think it's the best looking car you can buy for that kind of money and i was not bothered with getting the ls3 as i had the ls2 in the vz and was more than happy with it. I think the overall package of a clubsport is better than an ss and is good value when bought second hand.

I was in the same boat as you, I bought a Ve SSV new back in 07, then sold it last year because i was going to buy a new one. But had a look a a few clubbys out of interest and drove a couple and bought an 08 Clubby. Got it for a good price, has all the gear the SSV had and then some. Cant really go wrong either way, but the clubby looks the business and has probably taken the majority of its hit resale wise..

You just missed an 08 MY09 LS3 black manual up this way for $37k, kms were in the 30,000's... There is a couple good 07's from up here that's been online for quite some time in the high $30's aswell.

It also has the Walkinshaw power pack (hence the look closely comment), that's why I choose to put that one in...

looks exactly the same as ours (minus the walkinshaw pack). You can't go wrong with a sen sig I don't think.

+1 for the clubsport on account of looks, ls3 and bigger brakes( if your comfortable with the running costs). A new car will depreciate more. If you prefer manual personally, you might not enjoy the auto as much though?

    Happy hunting.

Re: Series 1 / MY09 Clubsport or SII SS?

I went the other way, tossed up between a MY09 clubby and a VE SSV and ended up with the SSV, since it had to be the wifes daily driver I couldnt justify the HSVs extra cost for purchase/brakes/tyres/insurance, also couldn't bring myself to own a HSV an then have it parked in shopping centre car parks on a regular basis, too many people around these days with no respect for other peoples property, If it was a weekend only car I would have definately gone the HSV, better overall package IMHO.

Don't know Clubsport specific, but VE generally is 45,000 Km or 3 years, I would think Clubby would be no different

Just to mess with your mind more, if you're considering auto, there is always Calais or Calais V, depending on whether you like leather interior, but Calais V is more upmarket than a base SS. I like those 60th anniversary (2008) with the 20" Supersports and sunroof.
